If x% of y is 100 and y% of z is 200 then find the relation between x and z. ?
Options: A: z = 2x, B: z=x/2, C: z=x/4, D: z=4x
Equation 1: (x/100)y=100
Equation 2: (y/100)z=200
Solve equation 1 for y, substitute y=10000/x into equ 2
Answer is A:z=2x
x/100 * y = 100
y/100 * z =200
Put the value of y into equation (1)
x% of y is 100 gives xy/100=100
y% of z is 200 gives yz/100=200
Dividing, x/z=1/2 So z=2x. Okay?
the trick is to know that x% of y always equals y% of x. then you can see that z is twice as large as x, so z = 2x is the correct relation.
