What are some examples of "False Hope"?
False hope and the bad or good that it causes. What are some good examples of false hope?
A false hope is that somehow man made agencies and organizations will figure out a way to put an end to all of humanities problems. Psalms 146:3 states "Do not put your trusts in princes nor in a son of man, who cannot bring salvation."

I imagine a good example of false hope is when someone provides a link to some extremist religious website in their every answer in the HP's Question section. The good of it is people grow familiar with the tactic and learn to avoid that individual like a spider's nest. The bad is when the naive fall for the ploy and perhaps get suckered into the propaganda at the dangerous website.
A good example of a false hope is when a doctor discovers that a patient will die soon and he tells the patient that he will recover soon.
It's when you are lied to, but the lie makes you feel better than if you heard the truth.

Should you give someone false hope?Someone you know is in a desperate situation. You want to comfort them. Should you say whatever necessary to ease their pain and possibly give them false hope? Or should yoube realistic no matter how they might take it?
