Allopathy targets the illness or disease; homeopathy seeks to strengthen the immunity of the body while ayurveda works on balancing the three doshas - thereby targeting the root cause of the disease. Allopathic medicines are high on side effects; ayurvedic medicines have negligible side effects; while nothing can be said conclusively about homeopathic medicines, though it is largely believed to be without any side effects. Allopathic medicines show result quickly; but many times they are acting on the symptoms and not treating the illness. Homeopathic medicines take a long time to heal while Ayurveda medicines vary in their healing time - depending upon many factors such as age of the person, stage and longevity of the disease, lifestyle of the patient and so on.

Allopathic medicines are derived from synthetic chemicals, whereas Homoeopathic and Ayurvedic medicines are prepared using natural herbs, plants, etc. All these modes of treatments have limitations as well as benefits. Allopathic medicines are quite effective for shorter duration, and come with several side effects. They just suppress the symptoms and provide instant relief, but fail to eradicate underlying disease. Homoeopathic medicines are effective against many diseases, but the treatment duration is lengthy. Same is the case with Ayurvedic medications. These treatments believe in holistic care. They try to eradicate disease from the root. When it comes to side effects, both the treatments produce negligible or less side effects. However, they are indecisive.
