Heaven

What is Heaven like?

I was contemplating what Heaven would be like and came up with the following scenario. I have no idea if this is true or any way shape or form close to the real thing. I just thought, if I was God, and I wanted to create a perfect resting place to reward human beings, this is what I would come up with...

- Dec. 2016

My personal view of what Heaven is like...

My views are shaped by the following. I followed some of the descriptions mentioned in the Bible. I've read some books by people who have experienced near death experiences. I've added some of my own interpretations, preferences and embellishments. These are based on my knowledge of science, history and religion.

  • Heaven is a Virtual Reality experience. Not that it is not real but it is one of an infinite dimension custom made for each person.
  • God is present and in direct communications.
  • Angels are present and serves as facilitators.
  • It is a happy place.
  • All the people you've ever met on Earth (alive or dead) will be there in their best form.
  • In addition, famous people from past and present that you've dreamed of meeting will also be present.
  • You will never feel hunger (physical or emotional) ever again.
  • You will have all the time in the world to pursue whatever interest you.
  • You will have a "glorified" body that has shape and form but will not require food or water to sustain. However, that does not preclude you from enjoying eating and drinking...
  • You will be able to comprehend the mysteries of our universe.
  • You will experience ever lasting life without ever growing old.

Science behind my theory

One might ask how is this possible. Aren't there limitations of physics that makes this impossible? How can one person be at multiple places? How can everlasting life be achieved? ...

  • Why is it possible for man to live forever...

In Einstein's theory of relativity, space and time is related. When one travels at or near the speed of light, time slows down. Suppose Heaven is like a spaceship that is traveling in space at the speed of light. For everyone on board, they will experience "normal" time but from an outside observer, a thousand years may pass.

  • The essence of man or his soul is not tied to any physical being. As such, it is possible to have multiple version of the same soul be present in various dimensions.

Think of this as modeled by an object programming language. You can define an object with certain properties and create an instance of this object to be used in one part of the program and at the same time create another instance of the same object.

  • Why are children and family units not necessary in Heaven?

The answer is simple. There is no need for the family unit because no children will be born and they will not need a nurturing environment to grow...

I just told you God has described it in some detail. If you know God, if you read his word you know what heaven isn't. Don't tell me no one can know God, he has revealed himself through his son, YOU need to learn of him and study his word...your eternal salvation rests upon that. Why do you insist on denying that truth?

DTMB, you have taken this discussion to a new level. Your analogy does not hold water because no one knows what heaven is really like where as you can travel to China and see what it is like.

I will leave it at that and let you contemplate what I just said. Please don't go off a deep end on this. It was only a fun exercise on my part. Don't take it too seriously bro.

Well I understand. But what would you say if I said I was contemplating what China would be like and came up with the following scenario. China is a communist utopia where everybody is equal, there is no dissent or unfairness. The government there is the ultimate in enlightenment and is never wrong but knows better what is best for all individuals and China is the one place where there is peace on earth.

And then I said I have no idea if this is true or any way shape or form close to the real thing. I just thought if I wanted to create a perfect country, this is what I would come up with...

Would you not think that is a little weird?

You see when you fantasize about Heaven you are doing the same thing I did with China. China exists and is not what I fantasize it to be...similarly Heaven exists and is nowhere near what you fantasize it to be, and the last thing it is is a "perfect resting place to reward humans." Reward them for what? If you believe there is a heaven then you must believe in the Bible and the Bible clearly states Heaven isn't a reward (which implies you can earn it), God does not reward sinners. Heaven is a gift, the gift of God to sinners who have accepted the fact that Jesus Christ paid the price for their sins. He is the way, the truth and the life, no one goes to heaven except through him. Certainly NOT " All the people you've ever met on Earth (alive or dead)" You ever meet Hitler? Stalin? Pol Pot? I can go on and on with examples of people who will not be found in Heaven, there will be no unrepentant sinners. If you were God that is what you would come up with? I don't think so. Like I said, you need to rethink God.

Just like it is fruitless to fantasize about China when we know what it is, Heaven is real also and we have been told by God himself through His Word much about it virtually little of which can be found in your imagined heaven, so it occurs to me that this hub page is weird as my fantasy about China.

Dtmb, don't get me wrong. I have no objection to any of your theories or counter theories. That is why I didn't comment on them. This hub was written more or less for fun. I was just trying to come up with one possible way heaven could be real. You are just as capable of coming up with your own version and that is great. I am surprised by your reaction. What is it that you don't like about this proposal?

As I said in my hub, I like this version of heaven even if it is only a wish.

And if I said "wow great personal view of Heaven, I am imprerssed" you'd be soaking up the admiration, wouldn't you? Everybody wants to impress their readers. Is your goal to depress your readers because I thought you were a thinker, someone who wants to get things right, but when you say your idea of heaven is that "All the people you've ever met on Earth (alive or dead) will be there in their best form." i'm depressed and wonder where you ever got that idea.

And Jack, you haven't answered one of my criticisms? Have I not poked holes throughout your idea of Heaven and you rationalization of it? Nothing I said changes your mind about your idea of heaven? That is interesting. This could be a learning experience for you, yet you are totally dismissive of my comments...not what I thought was a man with an analytical mind .

DTMB, I did not write this hub to impress anyone. It was written quite a while ago when I was at Squidoo. It was only recently I decided to re-publish it here on HP. It is my interpretation of what Heaven may be like. You are welcome to come up with your own version. Thanks for reading anyway.

"All the people you've ever met on Earth (alive or dead) will be there in their best form."

Well you won't find that one anywhere in the Bible...have you not heard of Hell? It's in the Bible and in many near death experiences. If those are your sources I think you missed alot, or maybe you just don;t believe in Hell?

And as far as science goes, given that today's Science is totally secular and is confined solely to the natural world you can not have any science behind your theory of heaven.

      1) Einstein's theory of relativity has nothing to do with eternal life no matter how you spin it supposing Heaven is like a spaceship that is traveling in space at the speed of light. God and Heaven, according to the Bible exist outside of time and space, thus cannot be subject to Einstein's theory of relativity.

      2) According to "science" man is nothing but the result of random chemical reactions over time, there is no essence of man or his soul to be tied to any physical being. That's what "science" says Jack.

      3) Reproduction is not the only need for family units. What of the babies that have been murdered by abortion, deceased children sons and daughters and siblings and other family members that have gone to Heaven. How do you know they don;t need family and relatives there? How do you know they aren't in limbo waiting for their parents to find them and nurture them? Non of this has anything to do with science.

Jack, you have a lot more thinking to do on this one, I'm not impressed! :-)
