Patterns of Existence.

The patterns of existence

The patterns of existence. Most people don’t know what morality, love, consciousness, will, and so much more is. But they are simple. They are based on self interest. Your self interest is based on needs. Every biological thing has needs. And if they don’t meet them they suffer or die.

Morality is based on self interest, no god required. Don’t want crap dumped on your head? Don’t do it to others and it’s far less likely to happen to you. Empathy shows us the suffering of others, and lets us imagine what it would be like if it happened to us. And nature is cause and effect, go against it and it will slap you in the face. lol..

When we were cave people we lived in family tribes. We were scared of others. they stole our resources. we raped murdered and even ate each other. Back then you had a more than 50/50 chance of being murdered. But we all need security, stability and prosperity to meet our needs. So we started to merge with compatible tribes. trade instead of theft. Safety in numbers. We made laws/rules to protect ourselves from each other.

We kept merging. Towns, cities, city states, empires, countries, nations, allied nations and now multi cultural societies. Now you have about a 1 to 2 percent chance of being murdered. Not bad, but it needs to get better, and only merger with the golden rule: Do no intentional harm, will get us there.

Love: Humans do one of two things. They either make things part of who they are or reject them. You love your cell phone. You had to have it. Now it’s part of you. You love the skills you do well. Your bike becomes an extension of self.

Love between people is the same. You try to make someone part of self, and the problems arise because the other person is trying to do the same. You might try to change each other which can cause conflicts, or bring you closer, unlike with skills or things. lol.. But it’s the same thing. We even know this instinctively. In marriage rituals you are often told: Now you are one.

And even atoms seem to have a basic awareness and memory according science. And they too have needs. The major one being that they have to get back to lowest possible energy levels. They interact like we do, push each other away, Cause each other issues etc. That creates higher energy levels.

And they can also merge, which gives lower energy level, more stability and safety in numbers. That creates new things on this level like chemicals etc. And as those merge we got stars and planets and then eventually cells. Cells too have needs and awareness. And merger for them gave them more stability, safety in numbers, and makes it easier to meet their needs.

And as things got bigger, brains were produced as central control systems for both body and awareness. Your consciousness lives .85 seconds in the past. Your limbic system gets sensory info first. Then it sends you emotions and an auto response based on your genetic predispositions set against collective learning/experience etc. Again, everything you learn goes to auto.

A ball is coming at your face. If you play ball you'll likely just catch it. If not you may just move. But think about it and it's already hit you. We use auto response 90 plus percent of the time. If you don't know something, or you get contradictory emotions/auto responses, and you have time, you can reject the auto response and deliberate, research, whatever, and if what you end up doing works, again, you've adapted and probably changed your auto response for next time.

So our consciousness is there to help teach our subconscious how to give us better auto responses. Everything uses auto response. But our conscious is unique as the left part of our conscious brain thinks in language, unlike other animals. That gives us a massive advantage.

So consciousness is complex awareness, which is also there to help make better auto responses.

And will. We do what we want, right? Sounds free. So what are we doing? We appease our likes and dislikes. You're not going to do things you hate unless forced to. But we don't choose our likes and dislikes, we just have them. You don't choose your moods, the music you love, the art you love etc. Nor the stuff you dislike. And again, it’s due to needs, None of which you choose. And again, this gives you massive self interest.

What is will? Most people don’t know. Will is a manifestation of your genetic predispositions, some inherited, which produce your original likes and dislikes. That's set against your environmental conditioning: learning, culture, experience, upbringing etc, , which together fuel/produce your current will. Free? Hardly. Unique? Yes you have unique, individual, dynamic, though highly influenced, will. Lots of it. All based on your likes and dislikes, none of which you choose.

Unique because your genetics and experience and environmental conditioning are unique. Individual because you aren't mentally connected to other people's brains. It's all you. In that sense it's free of other people's direct will.

And, you have understanding and learning due to language. Learning can change your likes and dislikes. So your will is dynamic. You know what is expected of you and the consequences of going against that. You've been told countless times by countless people since you were born.. So unless you have a mental issue that prevents you from understanding, you're responsible for your actions;

So it’s all about self interest. If you had no needs, you wouldn’t do anything. You wouldn’t need to. You don’t scratch unless you itch. Every choice and action is triggered.

And I could go on for hours, but I’ll leave it here for now.
