The "DNA" of life is "PMA" - Present Moment Awareness!
Life is living in the present. But are we living in the present? Why do many find it hard to be in the present moment? Why do we have fears? If you didn't have your fears would you still live in the past or future? All these questions can be solved when you live in the present moment, so it is rightly called the DNA of life.
A person is controlled by his childhood education, incidents, conditioning of the mind, and the type of teachers and parents he or she gets. All these form the personality, likes & dislikes, fears, phobias, traits and habits in a person. A fearful person is most likely to have fearful parents. So it would be foolish to blame a person, all humans are good only the actions may be good or bad.
When we get up what first thoughts come to our minds? The thoughts are about the future or past but what about the present? Why is it so difficult to live in the present. The problems are the thoughts which take control of us and take us for a ride. Imagine if you weren't thinking would you still live in the past or future? So the root cause of our problem are thoughts which are not our own. Yes, just as we inhale and exhale air, we also inhale and exhale thoughts. This might sound strange but that's what is exactly happening in our lives. We tend to follow thoughts which come to our mind, we don't make them. So we can't blame ourselves if we get them. So one must work on getting rid of these thoughts which control us.
So what should be done? The best thing you can do is first be aware that thoughts are coming and going. You have to slowly detach yourself from the thoughts. This is also a technique used in meditation. You have to just watch the thoughts come and go. Some people feel thoughts while some can watch them like a movie. You can feel or see the thoughts coming, be aware of the body position, sounds that you here, the touch the skin is getting, pictures that your eyes are recieving. You have to be aware of everything that is going on in that moment because this is the truth and your thoughts may not be. At first you would find it uneasy, but gradually you would start getting detached from the thoughts.
Various breathing exercises can help you realize your inner self. Treat every moment as if you are knowing more and more about yourself. When you can know yourself the best only then you can know the world. Many People tend to do things other way round. The Fast breathing technique is well known, it makes you free from the mind for a couple of second. It also increases your oxygen supply to your brain so you feel charged up. Fast breathing can be done by sitting comfortably, with spine erect Taking your hands up and forcefully exhalling bringing the hands down and then taking them up again as you inhale totally. Repeat 10-15 times. This should be done slowly first then as fast as possible later.
It takes only few minutes to do this exercise everyday but the results are outstanding. You would be cool and calm in every circumstances. There would be no inner conflict. Things would go on smoothly. So it's important to live in the present as this gives joy.
