Which are the Top British Universities?

Which is the best University in the UK? Clearly, there is no simple answer to that question! There are two basic crireria: Region and Subject. For example, one might look for top Universities in the south of England. Another may seek for top Institutions for Medicine.

UK Institutions like the University of Cambridge, London School of Economics, University of Oxford or Imperial College normally appear on top of most of the rankings.

      Oxford and Cambridge are still the names of the trade. They produced many great names in the fields of art and science.

      @anonymous: Very good knowledge of english is important - e.g. a very good IELTS score. An excellent personal statement is also important. Good grades also. And some extra stuff!

      I have seen the university rankings from different sources. What are the basic criteria for international students so that they can be admitted to these top universities (oxford, cambridge, etc)?

      @anonymous: Yes. In most University guides it's in the top 10 UK Institutions. But I guess it all depends on the subject you want to study.

      @anonymous: I am not an expert in Sports Science. According to The Complete University Guide, Loughborough, Durham, Exeter and Edinburgh are the best.
