25 of the Most Romantic Songs
Same as my official list of sexiest songs, there was no vote cast, I went through every song I could possibly think of to make this list from nearly every genre. Also, same as with the other list, you probably won't agree with everything, and that's okay, because I don't expect everyone to. This list is not up for debate and there won't be any add-ons or alterations because a random person thinks there should be. This is the Miller/Lightwood 25 Most Romantic Songs…EVER.
Here are the runners-up that didn't quite make the cut: "A Drop in the Ocean" by Ron Pope, "Lovin' You is Easy Cause You're Beautiful" by Minnie Riperton, "Cheers 2 U" by Playa, "The River Has Run Wild" by Mads Langer, "The Truth" by India.Arie, "Next Lifetime" by Erykah Badu, "L'espoir" by Leila, "Something in my Heart" by Michel'le, "Roslyn" by Bon Iver and St. Vincent, and "Heaven" by Jagged Edge.
25) "Cruisin'" by D'Angelo
24) "The Sweetest Taboo" by Sade
23) "Until the End of Time" by Justin Timberlake
The original version is nothing short of beautiful. I wish my voice could go up that high when I sing, but alas, it cannot. And yes, I'm a chick.
22) "Kissing You" by Total
21) "Lost Without You" by Robin Thicke
20) "Cherish the Day" by Sade
19) "Anniversary" by Tony Toni Tone
18) "My All" by Mariah Carey
17) "Lady" by D'Angelo
I've always wanted a guy to fall in love with me and sing this to me, or at least for it to apply to me in his eyes.
16) "The Makings of You" by Curtis Mayfield
15) "Kissing You" by Des'ree
If you're in the right mood (or wrong one) this song could bring you to tears. And in the movie Romeo and Juliet, Baz Luhrman had it in the perfect spot.
14) "25 Reasons" by Nivea
Romantic and it makes me crave Chinese food.
13) "Southside" by Lloyd feat. Ashanti
The lyrics are almost childish since it sounds like a teenage girl and boy sneaking away to meet one another, but that's the thing that also makes the song perfect. It's both cute and beautiful between its lyrics, and Lloyd and Ashanti's voices, and it can put a smile on your face no matter what age you are. All these years later, and I still love it and it can still make me smile.
12) "I Love You More Everyday" by Ginuwine
He's openly admitted that monogamy is brutal for him, but this song touches my heart.
11) "Before I Let You Go" by Blackstreet
10) TIE! "The Look of Love" by Isaac Hayes as well as "The Look of Love" by Nina Simone
They both made beautiful versions; I couldn't choose.
9) "Lately" by Tyrese
8) "Cater 2 U" by Destiny's Child
7) "This Woman's Work" by Maxwell
I heard a horrible version of this song by a woman (I think it was a woman; either way it traumatized me) on an episode of The Vampire Diaries during season two or three of the show (whichever one where all the ghosts came back for revenge and stuff), and I screamed, "No!" For one thing, this song is one of my favorites, and the other thing is, no one should touch it but Maxwell because everyone else butchers the crap out of it apparently. Don’t touch Maxwell's version ever again…seriously. Just don't do that people.
6) "Love Song" by 311
This song just makes you want to snuggle up to someone and kiss them until you fall asleep. No exaggeration.
5) "My Love" by Sia
4) "Angel" by Anita Baker
3) "No Ordinary Love" by Sade
I love this song, but I love the video for it even more. (I couldn't find the original vid, sorry.)
2) "One in a Million" by Aaliyah
Dance to it, make love to it, make out to it—I can't think of another song (or artist) that effortlessly provided such versatility past or present. Still love you and listening to you Baby Girl. Rest in peace.
1) "If I Ever Fall in Love" by Shai
This song came out when I was around nine or ten years old and all I could think was I couldn't wait until I met the person in my life where this song would ultimately have meaning. Well, let's just say I still love this song, regardless. Classic.
