3 The Lone Ranger films - Know them?

Updated on February 3, 2015

Clayton Moore as The Lone Ranger

We feature the 3 movies with the title 'The Lone Ranger' but also consider other aspects of the story

There have been two 'The Lone Ranger' movies in the past (1956, 2003) and one more planned for 2013 from Disney with Johnny Depp at Tonto. Join us here for a further look at the The Lone Ranger in several incarnations.

The Lone Ranger and his horse, Silver, were always accompanied by his Indian friend, Tonto, of course. In the 1956 movie and in the television series, Tonto was portrayed by Jay Silverheels.

Bill, this brought back memories of childhood and going to Saturday morning pictures in east London to see the 1956 version. You couldn't hear the soundtrack for all the kids hooting 'n hollering, jumping up and down, and fighting along with the film; a lone, elderly cinema attendant vainly tried to control the rabble, but in vain. Great film though, what I heard of it.

We always watched The Lone Ranger on Saturdays growing up. It will be fun to see Johnny Depp morph into being Tonto...he just seems to do all things well. I'm not familiar with Armie Hammer but he's going to look gorgeous in that mask! I love how you personalized this with your grandson by Clayton Moore's star! :)
