The Southern California Sky

Updated on March 11, 2017

The cloudy sky above in So Cal can be quite alluring indeed. It is a pleasure to gaze upon, and even more enticing to photograph. So this photo gallery presentation focuses on the beauty that can be found in the Southern California sky after a rainstorm. What does the Southern California sky look like in the morning after the rain has cleared, but the clouds are still in the sky? It is filled with clouds that create a beautiful mood below. The clouds cast shadows over the palm trees and the ground below. During my walk, I captured verdant trees and shrubbery, and even a few wild sunflowers.

Now the sunset brings on a part of the day that cannot be beat with the majestic beauty of silhouettes, and all that things that become a treat. The sunsets after a rainstorm are always more intense, and more stunning!

Sweetie you are so right about that - such incredible beauty just wipes away negative thoughts, selfish thoughts, that sight is so wonderfully humbling, letting us know that we are just an insignificant piece of creation.

Thank you, Dolores! My pictures reflect how I think about the sky, and always want to look at it. For some reason no matter how sad or good things might not seem at the moment, a sunset can always make you feel at peace with the world.

How many of us don't even bother to look up at the sky. I love the light created by clouds overhead with late afternoon sunlight slanting through. Everything looks so beautiful. Your pictures are gorgeous and remind me of old landscape oil paintings. Time to get out the paintbrush, Sweetie!

Thanks, billybuc! We had rain that day, so the sky had a beautiful color.

Thank you, Mary. I think our part of Southern California is nice being able to look out and go up to the mountains.

Thank you, barbergirl. It was back on July 13 when it rained.

The pictures of the sunsets looked like something that just jumped off a watercolor painting. Absolutely beautiful!
