A Quick Review on "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader"
A Quick Review on the Movie
Today, I watched the movie, "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader" with great expectations, having watched and liked the precursor to the movie, "The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian".
Like the second Narnia movie, the latest film installment of "The Chronicles of Narnia" series did deviate from the story in the book. Nevertheless, the deviation is not as much as the one in the previous movie. Hence, while there are key changes in the plot, the essence and the lessons that are in the book had been emphasized in the movie. Because of this, I believe that the third installment is indeed a good watch.
In the Philippines, the movie is shown only in 3D this week. Next week, Filipinos can begin to watch the movie in the more common and cheaper 2D format. Because of our eagerness to watch the movie, we had to shell out more money because only the 3D format of the film is available. Nevertheless, having watched the movie, I do not suggest watching it in 3D. Sure, there are good visual effects, but the movie is generally a movie that gives more importance to its story line and its theme. Because of this, there is no real advantage in watching the movie in 3D.
