A review of 'Dancing On The Beach'
It's often with a feeling of nostalgia that the senses accept perceive some relic from the past. It's so with music, amongst every other pleasant things that do confront the senses. 'Dancing On The Beach' happens to be one of such musical sensations. An informed young listener may listen to it with a heart that appreciates a taste of musical achievements of the 80's. But play it to a person of the disco generation and you are sure to notice the times relive itself in that listener's body reactions to the rhythm of the song.
'Dancing On The Beach' is a fusion of Disco and Soul, a meeting point of old and new ingeniously presented to the ears. From the onset of the song, I could not help but nod and sway to the rhythm. Along the way, I snapped my fingers along.
I'm impressed that the use of digital effects is minimized to the point of not being noticed to the cursory ear; it's a testimony of the sound producer's cultured aesthetics
The bass line is solid, the rhythm is engaging and the tempo is transporting. Although varied at certain points along the way, it's obviously done so with the intent of avoiding a monotonous instrumental accompaniment to the music. I'm impressed that the use of digital effects is minimized to the point of not being noticed to the cursory ear; it's a testimony of the sound producer's cultured aesthetics. In addition, I like the fine balance struck and maintained throughout the song between vocals and instrumental accompaniment. Unlike as is noticed with amateurish recordings, where it's either the instrumentals competing to shadow the vocals or the other way around, 'Dancing On The Beach' is a musical presentation well balanced, and obviously so to the informed listener.
'Dancing On The Beach' boasts a vocal quality that's original and melodious. And there's feeling conveyed in them; such feelings that strikes an imagery in the mind. When listening to the song, my mind painted a picture; an animated one, actually. It was the picture of a beach party packed full with youth and middle-aged dancing and nodding, swaying and plunging as a disc jockey treats the party mood to 'Dancing On The Beach'.

It will be good to have it in mind that good songs do wonders to the mind. In listening to 'Dancing On The Beach', I felt transported, I felt like I was in a party. I felt good. The song makes for a remarkable listening experience; the kind that lingers on long after the track is done playing. Every disc jockey should have it on their track list especially now when Summer is near with a promise of sunshine, sparse clothing, outdoor activities, surfing, slams and beach parties.
