Ansel Elgort
Early Years
Ansel Elgort was born in New York City. His father, Arthur Elgort, is a photographer who has worked for the magazine Vogue. His mother, Grethe Barrett Holby,is an opera director. Ansel is the youngest of three siblings. He has an older brother named Warren, who is a film editor and an older sister named Sophie, who has followed her father's footsteps and has become a photographer.
By the age of 12 Elgort was taking acting classes and began starring in his high school's plays and found his first job on an off broadway show called "Regrets."
Acting in Movies
Elgort may have started his professional acting on an off broadway play but his first movie role was in the horror movie "Carrie" which was released in 2013. Elgort then went onto to be casted as Caleb, in the movie "Divergent." The role of Caleb is the brother to the main character, Tris, in the movie "Divergent."
Not long after being cast as Caleb in "Divergent", Elgort was cast as Augustus Waters in the movie adaptation of the best selling book "The Fault in Our Stars." After winning two highly coveted roles in two major movies, Elgort is now set to star in the movie "Men, Women, and Children" and "Van Cliburn." As well as being cast in two more movies, Elgort will reprised his role of Caleb in the two follow movie in the "Divergent" trilogy.
Personal Life
Ansel Elgort is not only an American actor but he is also a music producer and a DJ. Ansel DJs under the name of Ansolo. Elgort signed a record deal with Staar Traxx in Feb. 2014. He released his first album called "Unite" in April 2014 and his second album was released in July 2014. Elgort's second album is called "Totem."
