If you haven’t started your Christmas shopping yet, you’ll notice something new this year: stuff inspired by the TV show Duck Dynasty is everywhere: pajama pants, coffee cups, t-shirts, hats, even a Christmas CD. Why is Duck Dynasty so popular?

Duck Dynasty stars are down-to-earth

Many reality shows feature strange themes (like competing for a dream wedding or choosing a groom from a collection of strangers) or people living lavish lifestyles, but Duck Dynasty is refreshingly sane. A regular, normal family lives life together, runs a family business and enjoys life together. They experience conflicts with one another. They eat real meals cooked in their own homes and their lives are very similar to that of most Americans, except for the fact that they're on national TV.

Duck Dynasty is clean TV

Unlike reality TV shows that feature visits to strip clubs, the Duck Dynasty crew keeps its antics to a family-friendly level. Parents can watch the show with their kids without worrying about sexual themes, violence or inappropriate language. With an element of faith in their lives – without coming across as aloof or holier-than-thou- the Robertsons are positive role models.

Duck Dynasty is funny

Si Robertson, uncle to brothers Jase and Willie, is known for carrying a glass of tea everywhere he goes. While Si isn’t the only one fond of a good joke, he has a reputation for catchphrases and his speech is sometimes placed in text on the screen while he is speaking. During one episode of Duck Dynasty, Si faked an injury and rented a motorized wheelchair to avoid working.

Duck Dynasty ends happy, every time

No matter what happens during a Duck Dynasty episode, there's always a happy ending: the Robertson clan is seated together, holding hands, saying a blessing before their meal. Duck Dynasty provides a calm, peaceful picture, relevant for today's times.
