Avengers Infinity War vs Avengers Endgame, which is better and why?

Avengers Endgame is the highest grossing film of all time. The hype for this film was humongous. The film shattered every expectation and every record at the box office. The film was a direct sequel to Avengers Infinity War.

Infinity War film was about Thanos and his quest to collect stones to bring the balance in universe while Endgame was about how the world is affected by snap and how the heroes avenge the fallen. But which movie is better - Infinity War or Endgame? Let's have a look.

Cinematography

Both films was directed by Russo brothers and Both the film's are truly epic, emotional and extraordinary. Such huge cinematic masterpiece movies are made rarely. Now let's a close look at different aspects of both the films.

Storytelling

In terms of storytelling, Infinity War was simpler as compared to Endgame. Infinity War was built up around Thanos and his quest to collect 6 infinity stones. But Endgame was about the remaining superheroes and how they avenge the fallen. Endgame involved time travelling which was somewhat complex. Hence Infinity War is the winner here just by a slight difference.

Action

Infinity War was full of action sequences from the beginning to the climax of the film while Endgame focused more on emotions and time travelling. The epic climax of Endgame was perhaps the best moment of entire MCU but still Endgame lacked some good fight sequences.

Characters and Moments

Surprising Moments

Both the films were full of surprises. In Infinity War, surprising moments include Hulk vs Thanos, Banner's inability to transform, Captain America's entry, Thor's entry and the Snap. Endgame had Thor went for head, Professor Hulk, Captain vs Captain, Thor's ice-melted cream type belly, Captain lifting Mjolnir, return of dusted avengers, "I am Iron-Man" moment as surprising elements. But Infinity War had many best moments of first meetings which were missed in Endgame. So both the films are equal in terms of surprises.

Characters

Infinity War focused more on Thanos than Avengers. And many superheroes got very less screen time such as Black Widow, Hulk and Captain America. Hawkeye was just mentioned in one line. The film gave some screen space to new avengers like Spider-Man, Black Panther and Doctor Strange. While it was opposite in Avengers Endgame. Captain America got the most screen time and original avengers were more focused in film. Here Endgame is the winner for original superheroes.

Character Development and Emotions

Infinity War mainly developed Thanos' character and it was the biggest plus point of the film. Endgame too, was heavy on character development of Superheroes. Endgame is ahead in emotions and character development, except Thanos. There is a forced character like Captain Marvel which wasn't even necessary.

Conclusion

Overall Infinity War was the film that not just created a based for Endgame but also had many first time moments - Thanos and his strength, some first meetings, sacrifices, first defeat. Therewas a tension throughout the film. Endgame was epic too but it lacked some things that people enjoyed in Infinity War.
