James Bond Movies
James Bond movies, some of my all time favorites ...
I have grown up with James Bond my whole life [not personally]. I for one am not someone that particularly likes British films, that might sound odd since I am British but there is just something about them that doesn't do it for me. If I ever see a British film on TV I usually stray away from it. However the James Bond [007] films have always been something I always take enjoyment in watching. My older relatives are very critical of it saying how far fetched it is, I can understand their point of view when you see James Bond avoiding multiple machine gun fired bullets, however that is something I personally just see past.
There is not just the action element of James bond that makes it the best series of movies ever, but also the remarkably funny little quotes the character sometimes comes out with. I personally think that some of the conversations between him and the older "Q" are hilarious. It becomes even more far fetched when in intense situations he is still very calm and docile. One of my all time best quotes is in the film "The spy who loved me", [1977] where James Bond and Anya Amasova are trying to get away from jaws. Anya is in a blind panic trying to move through the gears in an old van to get away, in doing so she makes some awful noises in the gearbox and James Bond casually says "can you play any other tunes ?". There are so many other funny little quotes like this but I don't want to spoil ! It has been my experience that some of the older films have a little more humor than the newer ones, but you can still catch a giggle at the more modern ones to.
Who is my favorite bond character ?
I think this is such a hard call for any Bond fan to make. I think if I had to choose it would be a tie between Sean Connery and Pierce Brosnan. I would say Sean because of his humor and Pierce because he applies the best modern feel to the films without loosing the old style of the previous James Bond films. This is all just my opinion, I would love to hear yours in the comments.
Did Craig kill Bond ?
It has long been my belief that ever since they decided to swap Pierce for Craig to play bond, the films have gone rather downhill. There seems to be too much modernization in it now. I even feel like the Craig Bond films are completely disconnected from the others. The old feel to the films that was the good old British Spy content seems to have dissipated, for me its like watching a "mission impossible" film now rather than James bond. I know some love him but for me he is ruining the James bond series. His first appearance came in the film "Casino Royale", this film confused many people as they couldn't figure out if it were a prequel or a brand new start to the James Bond series. If it were a brand new start then it would make sense as to why I feel it to be so separate form the previous ones.
Favorite Bond film ?
Wow, thats another one thats very difficult to call. My personal favorites would have to be, "Golden Eye", "Die Another Day", "the World Is Not Enough" and finally "Tomorrow Never Dies". I would love to hear yours so please let me know in the comments !
Great backing from huge music artists
Obviously when I say huge I don't mean they have eaten one to many burgers ! The likes of "Madonna", Duran Duran and "Paul McCartney" songs have all featured in the James Bond films. Some songs have in fact been made just for the film especially like "die another day" from "Madonna". There are so many other really well known singers that have made songs for the films, but If I listed them all I think I would need another page for this article !
The bond girls
Every bond film has the famous "Bond girl". They are always very carefully picked and are usually very attractive. My favorite Bond girl would probably be "Denise Richards" in the film "The World Is Not Enough". Who is you favorite ? Again I would love to know in the comments.
Overall ...
All in all the James Bond movies up until the point of "Craigs" appearance that is, are always going to be my all time greats, no matter how old they get I think they will always have a place in my heart. [Hope that didn't sound "gushy"!] The cavalier, smooth talking, quick thinking agent who appeals to loads of women is probably what some/allot of men would want to be like. That is just one more point why I believe you really cant beat sitting down to watch a good Bond !
That is it for this article entitled "James Bond movies", please let me know what you think about the films in the comments. Have a great day.
