Bohemian Rhapsody (2018)
Spoilers Ahead!
The 2018 film, Bohemian Rhapsody was something!
As a huge fan of Queen, upon the announcement of the film, I was excited and nervous. The band is huge in the music industry, known for their experimental music, and no permanent genre, the film was to deliver their lives accordingly.
The film overall was great! I, of course, have a few notes but the film overall is worth the watch. I even watched it five times! I was a fan and recommend you become one as well!
At the start of the film, I kept an open-mind about what I was to watch. And here is what I left the film with.
Overall i'd rate the film 4.5/5. The delivery of their story was well, but it was out of order, I would have preferred the film to be in chronological order, but then again it wasn't a documentary, but a biopic...so the need to move around some events were appropriate. The actor, Rami Malek, was indeed as close as Freddie Mercury as we'd get, and his performance was really good, you can tell he did his homework. To shine light on the other actors, Joe Mazzello, Ben Hardy, and Gwilym Lee, the acting was well put together, so that was not an issue. The resemblance was uncanny for John Deacon and Brian May, Roger Taylor could have been a bit better, but that is not to deny credit to Ben Hardy for his performance as Rog.
The music was nostalgic and made me feel like I was truly at a Queen concert in the 70s.
The drama, the acting, the music, it was all well put together, I became a huge fan and I cannot wait to own the DVD. That being said my only issue was some of the casting.
I highly recommend you all watch the film to gain a deeper insight. Ignore the critics and listen to the misfits that don't belong elsewhere but with Queen (reference).
