Bollywood Actress Pictures - Charmi Kaur
Charmi
Charmi Kaur born on May 17, 1985 is a prominent South Indian actress though she has predominantly acted only in Telugu films. The biography of Charmi is quite fascinating and reads like a fairy tale and her entry into filmdom appears rather providential.
Charmi hails from a less known Punjabi family from Vasi of Mumbai. One day as she was walking on the road, a model coordinator spotted her, was terribly impressed with her gait and physical personality and offered her a modeling assignment. Though she was initially disinterested, she went to the shooting spot of a film at his request.
There she saw the front line Bollywood stars - Abhishek Bachchan, Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor - at work and she was obviously inspired by what she saw. Somebody spotted her over there and offered her a role as a housewife in 'Nee Thodu Kaavali' in Telugu. She was having her school vacations and so readily agreed though she was barely 15 years of age.
Her first film was a huge flop though Charmi’s performance was noticed. Charmi went into wilderness and thereafter she suddenly aspired to become a lead actress in Hindi films and traveled by a local train in 2nd class to explore opportunities in Bollywood. She made some frantic efforts for a few months but could achieve nothing. It was at that time when Tamil film director T Rajender signed her for 'Kadal Azivadilai' with Silambarasan and she then on went on to act in 3 Tamil films and one Malayalam film but could not gain a foothold.

She re-entered Tollywood and acted in Sri Anjaneyam, directed by the renowned director Krishna Vamsi but this film, despite the big banner, ended in a fiasco. But this film based on the Ramayana character Hanuman turned Charmi into a religious person and she became an ardent devotee of Lord Hanuman. She has since started fasting on Tuesdays.
She claims that 'Sri Anjaneyam' was for her a great learning experience. Her next venture Chanti, paired against Ravi Teja failed as well. Failures, they say, are the stepping stones to success and it proved right in the case of Charmi.
She finally got a huge break in Telugu film Gowri in which she paired opposite Sumanth and then there was no looking back. The stupendous success of her next Telugu movie Mass with ace actor Nagarjuna helped to consolidate her position in Tollywood.
One of Charmi's most noteworthy and critically acclaimed film is Anukokunda Oka Roju. It was a heroine-oriented thriller and she seized the opportunity, performed superbly to proclaim to the Telugu film industry that she has arrived. Charmi acted in many Telugu movies with stars such as Prabhas, Venkatesh, Akkineni Nagarjuna, Nandamuri Balakrishna and Siddharth. Though her mother tongue is Punjabi, Charmi took pains to learn Telugu and acquired fluency in the language in a short span of time.
Charmi is a bubbly, child-like and easy-going person but supremely confident and over-ambitious. Charmi has been a champion in swimming since her childhood days and she loves dancing. Charmi says she wants to do 10 different characters in one film and that is her big ambition. Charmi is very weight conscious and it is said she carries a weighing machine and a timepiece with her wherever she goes. She is reported to have said that time and weight are two things that are of paramount importance to her. She is fond of reading motivational books by Shiv Khera whenever she feels depressed though such occasions are rare.
