Boy Bands and HeartThrobs of the 90s!

Updated on May 13, 2016

As a girl growing up in the 90's there was so much eye candy on the covers of Teen Magazine and Bop! and many others to mention! I remember BEGGING my parents to buy me the latest issues on our weekly grocery store trips. It's a time we will never get back. But who says we can reminisce? Ladies and gents I present to you a list of the most popular guys we dreamed of marrying and in some cases pretended were our boyfriends!

The New Kids on the Block

Remember these guys?! I sure as heck do! From the late 80's into the early 90's these guys had girls all over the world going completely and utterly gaga over them. The group consisted of 5 hotties from Boston Donnie Wahlberg, Jordan Knight and his brother Jonathan, Danny Wood, and the youngest heartthrob Joey McIntyre. And boy weren't we excited when they reunited!?

Mark Wahlberg

Oh yes, thank you baby Jesus! Making his first appearance as lead member of Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch he sent "Good Vibrations" (hehe) down the spines of young girls everywhere. Did you know he was actually one of the first members of NKOTB with his brother Donnie but quit to pursue his own career? Not too long after a couple of hit songs, he went on to acting and even done some underwear modeling for Calvin Klein. Which I will be forever thankful for.

Leonardo DiCaprio

How could we forget this face?! From his debut in the movie Critters 3 and the sitcom Growing Pains up to the many most recent movies he still knocks my socks off in both his acting and that cute face!

Did you know Leonardo DiCaprio spent time with his grandparents in Germany in his younger childhood? And wouldn't it make him so much hotter if I told you he speaks German Fluently?

Johnathan Taylor Thomas

Oh JTT! He made the milk mustache look amazing! At 10 years old he made his big break on the sitcom Home Improvement as Randy Taylor. He did many movies in his younger years including winning the part of the voice of Simba from The Lion King!

I will be the first to proudly admit I am a HUGE Hanson fan! 1992 changed my life as I knew it! Yes, they are still making music. In fact, I recently attended one of there concerts! Long blonde locks and adorable faces were all they needed to top the charts in the 90's, but the music made it even easier! Although the high pitched voiced have become matured and the long locks have been cut short every Hanson fan has a more meaningful love for these boys! The soul in there new music makes you want to dance, sing, cry, laugh. All in all there talent got them to where they are and I'm pretty sure it's exactly where they wanted to be. They are independent since they broke away from Mercury Records/Island Def Jam Records and are currently make music through there very own independent label 3CG Records and they are thriving! They are all married with children (sorry ladies) and still touring. They even appeared in Katy Perry's "Last Friday Night" video. Check em out! You'll be pleasantly surprised!

NSYNC, BSB, and 98 Degrees

Ok! Let's rewind to 1997 for just a moment! You there? K. So Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez, Chris Kirkpatrick, Joey Fatone, and Lance Bass of NSYNC. A. J. McLean, Howie Dorough, Nick Carter, Kevin Richardson, and Brian Littrell of The Backstreet Boys. Brothers Nick and Drew Lachey, Justin Jeffre, and Jeff Timmons. Total hotties! We remember Justin and JC from The Mickey Mouse Club, but these other guys came out of the wood works and pulled at our heartstrings. They have all moved on to bigger things including movies and TV show hosts. We all know about Nick Lachey's nuptials and speedy divorce with Jessica Simpson. Recently BSB reunited with NKOTB and went on tour. Rumors had it at one point Lance Bass of NSYNC wanted to become an astronaut and go to the moon. How true that is...not sure...but ok! None the less we still love these guys!

Poll Time!

What was your favorite 90's boy band?

Mark Paul Gosselaar

Oh yea! I went there! Didn't you always wish you were Kelly, Zach Morris's high school sweetheart? And don't forget his lead role in the 1998 movie Dead Man on Campus. One of the many heartthrobs of the 90's. But where the heck is he now?? Well, he was recently seen on CSI as a recurring character. So I would assume he is still acting. Although I can say, he was much cuter when he was 15!

Luke Perry

Hello 90's Luke Perry! YUM! My personal favorite role's were of course Dylan in Beverly Hills, 90210 as well as the bad boy motor cycle riding hunk Pike in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. At one point he did some modeling for GAP as well. Well he's still acting and probably one of the more handsome "older" men in Hollywood. Yes, he is only 2 years shy of being 50 years old!

Devon Sawa

Lordy Lord! Devon Sawa! Yes! Does anyone else remember him playing the 5 minute role of Casper with Christina Ricci or how about Little Giants?! The heartthrob of all heartthrobs! Let's not forget the Acid tripped out dude he played in SLC Punk! Oh what a world! We loved him then but what is he doing now?! Well his most recent would be Travis in the movie A Resurrection. Check it out for old times sake!

Brian Austin Green

Brian Austin Green...need I say more?? Probably not! From 90210 to his current reoccurring character Sean in Anger Management we still love those beautiful eyes and baby face! Ahhh! Makes my heart flutter!

Yes ladies! The man...the legend. He rose to the top with his album My Way and didn't stop from there. He is still making music and a big ball of full grown man and sexiness with his newest single with Chris Brown and Rick Ross "New Flame". After all these years and still on my top list of 90's heartthrobs that are still hot! He's had his up's and down's in the industry but he's still going strong and thank God for that! We love us some Usher Raymond!

Johnny Depp

Yes, I said it. Johnny Depp! OMG...still acting. How about his early role in Crybaby?? Anyone else remember that? Or how about Edward Scissorhands?? And let's not forget his role in What's Eating Gilbert Grape. Yes, he is as old as my own father but holy cow! HOTTIE! He was in the 90's and he still is now and probably will forever be an iconic heartthrob from the 90's. We love you Johnny!

Jaleel White

Yes...the original Steve Urkel from Family Matters. Once he stepped out of his Urkel character to be Stefan, there was no turning back. Remember how his smooth moves and talk got him to win Laura's heart? He also appeared as a contestant in season 14 of Dancing with the Stars. You can't talk about Steve Urkel without thinking about Stefan!

John Stamos

Not only do we love John Stamos for his dashing good looks, but for his excellent impersonation of Elvis! His part as Uncle Jesse o the sitcom Full House brought us to tears, brought us joy, gave us a laugh and made our hearts absolutely MELT! His on-screen band Jesse and the Rippers made a few great songs I still love to hear today. His soothing voice and his perfect...well...his perfect EVERYTHING made and still makes every woman's dreams! I will admit I had a crush on the old guy as a youngster! Who didn't? Young, old, who cares?! He was and still is HOT! Have MERCY!

Jonathan Brandis

Well known for his part in The NeverEnding Story II: The Next Chapter as Bastian Bux and Matt/Martha in Ladybugs he had teen girls on lock in the 90's! His sweet eyes, that blonde hair falling perfectly in front of his face. You might even recognize him in a few episodes of The Wonder Years and Blossom as well as a part in Who's the Boss?. Unfortunately this teen heartthrob came down with a case of depression after he believed his career was going downhill. He died in November of 2003 at the very young age of 27 which was reported to be from injuries sustained from hanging himself.

Joey Lawrence

This Philly boy sure knows how to make us laugh, cry, and even pee our pants! What..a..stud muffin! Best known for his part in Blossom as Joey Russo, Blossom's "dumb jock" older brother. But did you know he also made a self titled music album with Impact Records in 1993? Uhhh YEA! My personal fave song on that album as well as the music video was "I Can't Help Myself". All I can say is "WHOA!" haha! He was and still is one of the most iconic teen heartthrobs from the 90's. And my goodness that hair! He's since shaved the locks off but still has that knock out body! YUM! Check out the video and see if the 1993 song rings any bells!

John Harnett

Such a beautiful, beautiful man! You've probably seen him in the 2000s playing lead roles in movies like Pearl Harbor, O, Black Hawk Down, and 40 Days and 40 Nights. But do you remember the Josh Harnett from the 90's?? Like, Halloween H20: 20 Years Later or The Faculty and The Virgin Suicides?? Hubba hubba!

Jeremy Jackson

Remember this hunk?! One word...BAYWATCH! He starred as Mitch's (David Hasselhoff) son Hobie Buchannon in which this part was almost won by Leonardo DiCaprio, but Jeremy beat him to the punch! Jeremy admit's he was heavily addicted to meth in the later years of the show. You may have also caught him on Dr. Drew's Celebrity Rehab at one point as well for his addiction to steroids. Well we couldn't tell, not at all, considering his rippling abs on the cover of IronMan Magazine! In case you were wondering, yes, that was sarcasm...

Edward Furlong

This hottie made his debut as John Connor in Terminator 2: Judgment Day. He later starred as Danny Vinyard in American History X. So what is this hottie doing now? Well...apparently trying to stay out of jail, I suppose. After consecutive battles with substance abuse, domestic violence disputes with different domestic partners and accusations of violating parole and restraining orders it seems he has finally sought rehab and counseling.

I can go on for days bringing up memories of all the teen heartthrobs we once loved and likely still do. No, I did not forget about Andrew Keegan, James Van Der Beek or Freddie Prinze Jr. However, these other guys are much more fun to talk about! Chao!
