Britney Spears Conservatorship Unfair

I'm not actually a fan of Britney Spears or for that matter of pop music at all but when you see so many views spewing from so many media outlets you begin to develop your own opinion about such things. This is an opinion piece on what I think about the conservatorship, Spear losing her children, her reaction, etc.

Apparently back in 2008 after losing custody of her children to Kevin Federline. Now how a judge would award custody to a man who had done nothing more than be a wannabe rapper throughout his marriage to Spears I'll never know. The man obviously only takes care of the children now on the massive child support he takes from Spears and doesn't even bother to work.

When Federline's representatives tried to take Spears children she refused to give them up at her home until the police came and forcibly removed them, police said she was on some form of substance arrested her and she was placed in a mental institution. What? With all due respect to the authorities and media is it any wonder someone would have an emotional breakdown after you just took her children away? Also after drug testing no substance was found to have been used. Why would you place a young woman upset that police took her kids in a mental institution. If someone came and took my children and I didn't think I'd see them again I would have an emotional breakdown too and so would anyone with love for their children.

Now after she was eventually released from the mental institution her parents were upset and think she should have stayed in. What sort of nastiness is that coming from her parents? She had just lost her kids, been arrested and put in a loony bin. So her parents of course took the opportunity to take control of all her assets and even her freewill with the consent of a judge no less.

With all due respect to Jamie Spears your daughter was in her late 20's if shes made bad decisions or not what right do you or a court have to take control of someones fortune, to take control of someones personal rights and freedoms. This seems like nothing more than another cash grab and way to keep your self afloat leeching off your daughter and in this case as she has no legal rights at all you control everything she does.

She can't move from her residence, she can't get married, she can make no legal decisions for herself of any kind. So she's being completely controlled by her father. She had better hope that she doesn't get in a car accident or he'll be pulling the plug faster than you can say "greed." Maybe he has already rewritten her will for such an occasion since he is in control of all her legal decisions and she has no say on anything it wouldn't be that difficult.

Now it has been almost four years since Jamie Spears has been in control of every aspect of his daughters rights. She is 30 years old and seems completely competent (something I think she always has been) don't you think it is time she controlled her own life. Time that she was given the ability to chart her own career or at the very least be able to choose where she lives.

Gypsy Rose Lee - I agree she had issues for sure but I think she deserves her life back too. Thanks for commenting :)

terrisanzi - your right of course everyone seemed to be looking for a piece. It's pretty harsh when it's family that is kicking you while your down instead trying to help. Thanks for commenting :)

To err is human to forgive divine. She has had her problems time and time again add a nervous breakdown to that and it can get really bad. So she's back singing, making money and so it's time to give the reins back into her own hands.

Escobana - I'm glad you and I are on the same page and that you understand. It sounds like you had a hard time as well and I hope you were given the chance to start over. I hope she does get the same chance as well.

Everyone showed thier true selves during the crisis. Grabbing her bank account - her ex and her parents - showed their true colors. If I was a star in the United States, I wouldn't marry and I wouldn't have children until I was finished with my career. We always love our idols and we love to chew them up and spit them out. Look at Marilyn Monroe and Michael Jackson. Don't help rebuild thier spirits, take the bank account away. Maybe one day we will read in a rag magazine how a judge says no to take overs and while I'm here, how about ex-wives that love to walk away with thier ex-husbands money and property? No wonder our children are clueless. Lets crush the soul and grab the bank account too. Either you are an honorable person or you are not. Hope they sleep well at night.

I know what it's like to be in a mental hospital. I know what it's like to loose complete control. To loose your freedom and your will of making your own decisions.

I don't know what it's like to have as much money as Britney Spears had/has. But just like all human beings, she made mistakes, worked her way out of it and should be given a second chance. And her parents should start one thing from now on....let her go and let her make her own decisions in life. Good or bad.

Everyone deserves to start all over again, instead of being haunted by the past, having her parents reminding her of it, all the time.

      Voted up, away and shared!!!

seo guru - your right of course a cash grab by Britney's parents make sense. I'm not sure if she was ever a danger to herself or her children to be honest the breakdown happened when they took her kids and she was never declared an unfit mother by a court. So if she was or wasn't is hearsay and up for debate but like you said it's her money, it has been four years and she should be able to take back her own life.

Alecia Murphy - I agree she made mistakes in her life but I don't believe because you make mistakes that it ok for a judge to sign away your rights. After all even prisoners in a maximum security prison have rights. Like you said as well it's been four years. I think she deserves a chance to be on her own.

It was and is a money grab by her parents so they could insure the gravy train continued. She did have a melt down and she was a potential threat to herself and her children, but no more. and it is her damn money and she should be able to do what she wants with it and her life.

You echo what a lot of people have said about her. I think taking someone's kids away does do a lot to them but also she did exercise poor judgement. It has been 4 years so maybe it is time now since she's engaged and ready to make a new start of things.
