Shannon is a passionate country fan who enjoys getting to know the artists and their music. She also loves spreading joy through interviews.

“But I Want You” was the lead single off of Camille Rae’s sophomore album Come Find Me and it was a success. Now, the much-anticipated follow-up single “I Need Me” hits country radio February 27th. Long-time fans of Camille will be ecstatic because they waited years for this release, but the wait is worth it, no doubt. And just in case you are wondering what took so long. . .Well, this song is her precious baby and she had to make sure it was just right before releasing it to grow.

“I Need Me” is a heartfelt, almost heart-wrenching song. Perhaps surprisingly, though, is that it is also very much a song of empowerment. Camille wrote the song several years ago without any intention of allowing others to hear it because, although therapeutic, it had potential to hurt some people she held dear. Fatefully, she sang it for a friend who convinced her to record it. Lucky for us, too, because this song has a message of encouragement, if only indirectly. Anyone who has ever needed a change, but been afraid to take the necessary steps for fear of hurting someone or fear of letting go can relate to this song. A song like this can give others the much-needed courage to move forward.

“It seems to inspire people. It’s a little bit sad, but it has a positive undertone to it. If you want things to change in your life, you have to take the steps to make the changes,” the singer says.

For about five years, the singer has performed “I Need Me” at various concert venues and it has paid off. After each show, it is the song fans want most to speak to her about and thank her for writing.

She has several different versions of the song floating around, though. One such version made it on her debut album as the title track. But in order to have it released as a single, she had to make sure it was perfect.

“I’ve probably had about six different recorded versions of it,” she says, “but it was never quite what I wanted it to be production-wise. We finally hit the nail on the head with the Come Find Me album version. The instrumentation and production with the single version are driving and inspirational. It matches the lyrics and message I want to get across. I think it will probably be one of the biggest songs of my career because of the positive things that have already happened with it. And it’s not even out there for the masses yet.”

Oh, but soon it will be. And soon it will be touching lives on a larger scale. Check out the preview below and then request it on your local radio station. You'll be glad you did!
