Cancelled Too Soon: 14 Television Shows I Wish Wouldn't Have Been Cancelled!

1. Without A Trace (CBS)
Number of seasons: 7
Years: 2002-2009
Show description: The series follows the cases of a Missing Persons Unit (MPU) of the FBI in New York City.
I really loved this show A LOT! I liked all the characters and the premise of the show. The whole thing was awesome. Unfortunately, I think what did this show in was that it kept flipping nights that it was on. First, it was Thursday then Sunday then Tuesday and back to Thursday. When a show flips time slots that much through out it's 7 seasons it's not surprising how viewers could lose interest. Still, I'm sad it got cancelled and wish it would have had at least another season or at least some closure to some of the story lines season 7 ended with.

2. CSI: NY (CBS)
Number of seasons: 9
Years: 2004-2013
Show description: The show follows the investigations of a team of NYPD forensic scientists and police officers identified as "Crime Scene Investigators"
Out of the two spin offs of the CSI series, CSI NY was one of my favorites. I loved all of the characters. I loved how two of the characters got married and a had a baby. I just really enjoyed that show and wish it wouldn't have gotten cancelled without some closure to the stories at the end of season 9. It was good show though and it had a good run.

3. Women's Murder Club (ABC)
Number of seasons: 1
Years: 2007-2008
Show description: The series is set in San Francisco, CA and is based on the series of novels by the same name written by James Patterson.
When this show first aired, I had never read any of James Patterson's Women's Murder Club books. So, I just thought it was cool that a tv show was being based off a book and I really liked it. Unfortunately, this show was on in the same year that the writers' strike took place in Hollywood. So, that's a big reason why it got cancelled. By the time the strike was over, people had either forgotten about or lost interest in the show. Now, having read the books, I wish there could have been more than one season. It would have been interesting to see how that would have panned out.

4. Veronica Mars (originally aired on UPN but then went to the CW)
Number of seasons: 3
Years: 2004-2007
Show description: Veronica Mars is a student who progresses from high school to college while moonlighting as a private investigator under the tutelage of her detective father
I really loved this show and was sad when it got cancelled. It had many elements to it, serious, funny and dramatic. I loved almost all the characters. Altogether it was a really good show and I wish it would have gotten a 4th season. Apparently, a lot of people felt the same way because Veronica Mars was turned into a movie. I have seen it and it brings some closure to some of the story lines at the end of season 3 that we never really got.

5. Betrayal (ABC)
Number of seasons: 1
Years: 2013-2014
Show description: The series is based around Sara Hanley, a photographer, who begins an affair with Jack McAllister, a lawyer for a powerful family.
Though I was not interested in the show by it's previews, once I started watching it I was hooked. I don't condone infidelity, but this show was so much more than that. It was very dramatic and had a lot of twists and turns to it, it was very good show. So, I was sad it was cancelled and I'm really ticked how it's first and only season ended. It ended with Sara waiting at restaurant with a glass of wine for a man and you don't know if it's Jack ( the guy she had the affair with) or Drew (her husband). Now, I'll never know.

6. The Client List (Lifetime)
Number of seasons: 2
Years: 2012-2013
Show description: is an American television drama series based on the 2010 television film of the same name, which aired on the Lifetime network.
This show starred Jennifer Love Hewitt, who was also in the movie. I never saw the T.V. movie because I thought it sounded it creepy, but I saw the show and I changed my mind. Though the concept of her working at day spa that gave "extras" during a massage is a little hard to wrap my brain around. It was more than just that. It was about her trying to balance her life as a mother and keep this secret about what she really does ( since it's illegal). All in all it was really good show and I'm disappointed there was never a season 3.

7. Devious Maids (Lifetime)
Number of seasons: 4
Years: 2013-2016
Show description: It was an American comedy, drama and mystery based around four Latina maids working for the wealthiest people in Beverly Hills, CA
I was always interested in seeing this show when I saw the previews because it was produced by the same person who produced Desperate Housewives and also by one of the actresses that was in it, Eva Longoria. Since I loved Desperate Housewives, I figured I would love watching this show too and I was right. It was a very good show it had some silly moments but also a lot of mystery, deceit and suspense at times which all created a show worth watching. I was very upset when I found out it got cancelled because the finale set you up for the next season. It ended with one of the main characters getting kidnapped at her wedding. Now, no one will ever know who did it or how that storyline would of turned out. It was a good show and I did enjoy the season I did get to see.

8. What Not To Wear (TLC)
Number of seasons: 10
Years: 2003-2013
Show description: an American makeover reality television series based on the British show of the same name.
I'm not much for reality T.V. I only watch the shows that are about something that I like or pique my curiosity and this show did that. Every episode you'd see Stacey London and Clinton Kelly give some poor unsuspecting woman a makeover from had to toe. The transformations were usually very good. These candidates are nominated by friends and family to be on the show. Not all of them were receptive to the idea and some fought them the entire way. The ones that were receptive were very happy with the results and gained a whole new confidence they didn't have before. This show wasn't just about making people over on the outside. It was helping them transform themselves from the inside out and letting the clothes reflect that. So, it's sad that it was cancelled. I wish it could have had many more seasons and helped many more women see themselves in a better light. They did have a good run and helped many woman, so their 10 seasons were spent well.

9. Ghost Whisperer (CBS)
Number of Seasons: 5
Years: 2005-2010
Show Description: The series follows the life of Melinda Gordon, who has the ability to see and communicate with ghosts
I realize not a lot of people believe in ghosts and even less people believe people can communicate with them. However, this show brought people to a place that's not easy for most to comprehend. Every week Melinda would have a new ghost to help cross over to the other side. She had to give messages to the living from the dead ( which wasn't easy to get people to believe), but it was a really good show. It was very emotional and heart felt. Maybe it even brought closure to people watching who just recently lost someone. It was a great show and I'm disappointed it couldn't have had at least a couple more seasons, because it was a show worth watching.

10. Medium (Originally a mid-season replacement on NBC and then picked up by CBS)
Number of seasons: 7
Years: 2005-2011
Show description: Themed on supernatural gifts, its lead character, Allison DuBois is a medium employed as a consultant for the Phoenix, Arizona district attorney's office. The show was initially based on the experiences of medium Allison DuBois, who claims she has worked with law enforcement agencies across the country in criminal investigations.
I absolutely loved this show and was really upset that it was cancelled. I hated how they decided to end the series. This show was one of the more realistic based shows I've seen , as far as marriage, motherhood, work and life are concerned. Maybe, because it was based off a real Medium named Allison Dubois, that's why it had more realism to it. Whatever it was though, it was interesting getting a look into the life of a Medium and her dreams and how it helped her help the police solve crimes. I know Mediums are another thing people can't wrap their heads around, but I believe there's people like that. I liked seeing her use her gift to help people. I also loved her family, so adorable (husband and kids). I wish this show could have had at least one more season or at least better ending to it than it did. But, it was good show and I really enjoyed it.

11. Mistresses (ABC)
Number of seasons: 4
Years: 2013-2016
Show description: It was a mystery drama and soap opera based on the UK series of the same name and it was based around four female friends and the illicit complex relationships they partook in.
I was nervous about this show at first because by the previews it looked like not my cup of tea but then I watched an episode and got hooked. Yes, they did have adult content and tended to go from dude to dude but it was more than that. There were always a lot twists and turns, which made it a really good show. So, I was upset when I found out it wasn't coming back for a 5th season. One of the main characters was killed off in the finale, but they also made it look like she could still be alive. Now, no one will ever know. It was a good show and I'm happy for the seasons they did get to have.

12. Witches of East End (Lifetime)
Number of seasons: 2
Years: 2013-2014
Show description: Set in the fictional seaside town of East End, it follows the lives of a family of witches – Joanna Beauchamp and her two grown-up daughters, Freya Beauchamp and Ingrid Beauchamp, as well as her sister Wendy Beauchamp.
I wasn't sure about this show at first, but watching it I got hooked easily. I like the whole witch craft thing, it's cool. I loved Charmed and this was like that but more intense, more swearing and more adult content (since it was on cable.) Aside from all that, in it's two seasons it proved to be a really good, sit at the edge of your seat, eerie kind of show. So, I'm really upset that it was cancelled and there was no season 3. I'm grateful for the 2 seasons I did get to see but sad that they didn't announce the cancellation sooner. Now we'll never get closure to the story lines that they had set up at the end of season to 2 preparing you for season 3. I'm just going to pretend Wendy came back to life. Freya and Killian walked off in the sunset and can be together now, with no complications. Since it's cancelled, it's what I choose to believe.

13. 666 Park Avenue (ABC)
Number of seasons: 1
Years: 2012-2013
Show description: The show follows a couple who learns that the Manhattan apartment building that they just moved into, including its upscale tenants, might be possessed by a mysterious demonic force.
I realize a show about the devil might be hard for some people to take. It was never specified that the owner was the devil, just indicated that he might be. The show wasn't really demonic in nature, but more eerie than anything else. It had very creepy and eerie elements to it and it was a really good show. So, it is a shame that it only had one season. Even worse was that it was cancelled in the winter but they decided to be cruel and play the remaining 4 episodes in the series over the summer. Since, there was never a season 2, we didn't get to see how anything would have played out. It was a good show and I don't get why they couldn't have tried at least a second season to see how it would have taken. Oh well.

14. Close To Home (CBS)
Number of seasons: 2
Years: 2005-2007
Show description: is an American crime drama television series and follows Annabeth Chase, a Deputy Prosecutor for Marion County, Indiana.
I don't remember everything about this show, since it's been awhile since it's been on. I do know that I really liked this show and I was upset when it got cancelled. In the end of the first season Annabeth's husband got killed off. I wondered how the show was going to work without him, since it wasn't just about her being a lawyer. The show was also about her being a wife and mother and juggling all of that. The second season came and it worked out fine. Now, it was focused on her being a lawyer and widowed single mother. When the second season finale came, it was pretty obvious the show wasn't coming back. They killed off half the cast. I wish there would have been a third season and the show would have lasted longer It was a good show and I still remember it (not everything, but enough to know I miss it).
