Carrie Diaries Unforgettable Quotes

Updated on June 18, 2013

The Carrie Diaries TV show is another fantastic one and because I love watching it, I’m sharing some of the amazing quotes from the book, The Carrie Diaries written by Candace Bushnell. Bradley’s life before Sex and the City was also fabulous and exciting. If you didn’t yet read the book, read it now to know about Carrie Bradshaw’s Senior Year. I can’t wait to the sequel, Summer and the City because the first book ended when Carrie arrived in New York and she phoned Samantha…

Best Quotes from The Carrie Diaries, by Candace Bushnell

“What if I’m a princess on another planet? And no one on this planet knows it?

“Don’t forget, Bradley, we have to get boyfriends this year.” –Lali

“Crap. We were supposed to get boyfriends last year.” – Carrie

Rule number one: Why is it that the one time a cute guy talks to you, you have a friend who’s in crisis?”

Rule number two: Humiliated best friend always takes precedence over cute guy.”

Rule number three: Best friends always think you deserve the best guy even if the best guy barely knows you exist.”

“And rule number four: Best friends can also be full of surprises.”

“When it comes to relationships, we’re all like little planets with our own solar system of friends. Unwritten law states that the solar systems rarely intersect – until now.”

“I don’t know what I want to do for the rest of my life. I mean, why should I? I’m only seventeen. All I know is that I don’t want someone telling me what I can’t do.” – Lali

“Love is spiritual. It’s about self-sacrifice and commitment. And discipline. You cannot have true love without discipline. And respect. When you lose the respect of your spouse, you’ve lost everything.” -Mr. Bradshaw

“If you want to get information out of someone, ask them unexpectedly. They’re usually so shocked by the question, they’ll tell you the truth.”

"Rule number five: Always agree with your friends, even if it’s at your own expense, so they won’t be upset.”

“Boy’s mouths are never what you think they’re going to be anyway. Sometimes they’re stiff and sharp with teeth, or like soft little caves filled with down pillows.”

“He leans over and kisses me. And suddenly, my life splits in two: before and after.”

“Ever since the kiss, Sebastian’s presence has been like an invisible shadow sewn to my skin. I cannot go anywhere without him. In the shower, he hands me the shampoo. His face floats up behind the words in my textbooks.

“Don’t sweat the small stuff. Don’t beat yourself up about things. Because when you do, you lose twice.” – Mr. Bradshaw

“There ought to be a law that says every time a boy kisses a girl, he has to call within three days.”

“Sometimes I think all the trouble in the world is caused by men. If there were no men, women would always be happy.”

“Since when did we start needing boyfriends to have fun?”

“You know what they say: A woman needs a man about as much as a fish needs a bicycle.” – the Mouse

“A fish may not need a bicycle, but it sure as hell needs friends.”

“Publishing is full of stories about the manuscript that got rejected by twenty publishers before someone took a chance on it and turned it into a huge bestseller….Just like me, I think. I’m masquerading as a regular girl, but somewhere inside me there’s a star, waiting for someone to give me a chance.”

“If it wasn’t difficult, everyone would do it.” – Peter

“Harvard is not any old college. If you go to Harvard, you become someone who went to Harvard. For the rest of your life, it’s what people say about you: He went to Harvard.” -Maggie

The girl who played with fire.

Hi, Cathy. The show is kinda different from the book though. I guess all tv shows are anyway. I miss watching Sex and the City. I hope they make another movie. Yup, Carrie is a Goddess of TV and NY. Cheers for the girl power babe :)

There are so many interesting shows on TV these days, but I haven't the time to catch any of them. Thanks for reviewing this, at least I know what it's about.

Hi Fehl, hope all's well with you! I have to admit I never watched any of the Sex in the City or this one but as kind of a side note I was at the high school graduation of S.J.P. She went to The School for Creative and Performing Arts in Cincinnati and graduated with my sister-in-law (Cyd Strittmatter) who is still in L.A. doing commercials and TV shows. I have fun telling people that Sara sat on my lap (well she was only about 10 and was tiny for her age) but it always gets a laugh. Try typing Little Match Girl into your browser, it I think was Sara's first role. She was the cutest little kid. Well that's my 2 cents. Take care girlfriend :-) Tom
