Dexter Halloween Costume Ideas

Lets not delve to deep into "Why" you have decided that a Dexter Halloween costume calls to you. I really dont want to guess. Im not sure that wanting to dress as a serial killer for the day is really the healthiest of mindsets. But, who am I to judge.

Im a big fan of the Dexter series, It unfortunate that Showtime is otherwise a pretty weak station, so I have to buy the Dexter dvd's a season late or look for online episodes, but that aside, Dexter is a great anti-hero. he is a sick calculating bastard but yet somehow still a bit lovable and follows a {im}moral standard that somehow allows us to like him without feeling too guilty.

Unless your going for the Addams Family style serial killer costume, "Where's your costume, honey" "Im a serial killer, We look like everybody else?" ..your going to have to pick one of the iconic looks that makes Dexter, Dexter!

To me the only iconic costume of Dexter is his forensics proof kill room get up. Faceshield, jumpsuit and blood spatters. This is actually not that hard of a costume to procure.

Dexter Scrubs for Costume

You have to keep all the blood off your clothing, you do this by wearing either a full painters style jumpsuit or a medical examiners outfit.

Both are available below.

Dexter Faceshields and Goggles

When your working with a saws or performing any sort of violent hacking, blood spray is inevitable, keep your face and eyes clean of any body fluids bu using a full medical shield or goggles.

Blood , Lots and Lots of Blood!

Watching Dexter has given me a new found fascination with the scientific and artistic skills required for recreation of the blood spatters and forensic blood spatter analysis. If your wearing a Dexter Halloween Costume this year, its probably best to go for the Post Kill look.

So you will need, Blood! Lots of it....

Dexter DVDs

I like Dexter, not so impressed with Showtime though. Its cheaper for me to buy the complete DVD series of the shows I like rather than subscription costs to Showtime - for me, its not TV, its HBO , ya know!

If your impressed by the main actor of Dexter, Michael C Hall, and his calculating character acting, you may be very surprised and impressed by his great performance in "6 Feet Under" as a rather sensitive and quirky Funeral Home Director...very different character..still works with dead bodies though ..hmm?

The Director of the series is Alan Ball, who is currently heading up the successful True Blood series (which is becoming quite a suck-fest in the recent seasons)

Absolute quality - we are big Dexter fans and like those costumes very much. Sadly, the Greeks don't do Halloween, so we will have no chance to use it :(
