Kat and Alfie have been through more than most, and have recently began trying to rebuild their lives after the baby swap drama. The vulnerable pair have recently returned from Spain a picture of happiness along with friends daughter Shanice who both Kat and Alfie became very attached to last year while the youngster was staying with them.

But it would seem that Eastenders dont feel the much loved couple have suffered enough, as Kat and Alfie are about to suffer yet more heartache. This week Kat appears to be quite depressed, and Alfie is suprised to discover that his wife isn't happy. Although they appear to have the happy family that Kat always wanted she is still not happy, Kat is struggling to adapt to her new life and complains to Alfie that they have no time to be intimate anymore. Alfie is quite angry that Kat is moaning and tells her that she should be grateful for what they now have. Later when Kat hears that Eddie and Carol have been at it in the bedroom, she is annoyed that the oldies seem to be getting more excitement than her. Later at the pub she has a talk with Jack, who apologises to her for everything that has happened. Kat agrees to put the past behind them and tells Jack that he can see Tommy whenever he wants.

At the end of Summer Kat and Alfie will face fresh heartache as Kat suffers a miscarriage. When Kat discovers she is pregnant she is understandably shocked as both herself and Alfie believed he was infertile. Kat will be all over the place and understandably very nervous and anxious about having another baby. Alfie on the other hand questions if his wife has been having an affair, he doesn't understand after years of trying how Kat can all of a sudden be pregnant with his child and this pregnancy will cause some serious doubts in Alfie's mind.

Sadly though, before the pair can get used to the idea, Kat falls ill and is rushed to hospital where they are told the devastating news that they have lost their baby. And again we will see Kat and Alfie trying to come to terms with the loss of a baby, will their marriage stand yet another tragedy or will it drive them further apart?

It was always thought that Michael Moon was the father of baby Tommy as Alfie was supposed to be infertile, although no DNA test has ever been done on the boy. Could Alfie be Tommy's biological father after all? Lets hope Kat and Alfie get their happy ending soon.
