Five Most Relaxing Videos You Can Watch on Youtube

Updated on January 1, 2018

Intro

You tube is the largest collection of videos on the internet. I am sure most of us have at least once watched a video in You tube at some point of time. I have listed some relaxing and ASMR triggering videos that I have come across. ASMR stands for Autonomous Sensory Median Response. It is a tingling sensation that people develop on the skin, which commences from the head and moves down towards the back along the spine. It can have a numbing or euphoric feeling. There are several triggers of ASMR, both physical and visual. I have concentrated on the visual triggers here for this post. It's not necessary that these videos should or must trigger an ASMR sensation, but at the least, you would find them interesting or relaxing.

Listening to Vedic chanting or music for meditation

Meditation Music or chanting

Listening to meditation music or Vedic chanting can be an amazing experience for most people. If you find the right kind of music which suits you, it can relax you beyond anything you have ever felt before. It can be a great stress buster and can induce good sleep in a few minutes. There are several you tube videos with this type of music or chants. If you are looking for the chanting version, check out Shiva Tandava Stotram or simply go for the Om chanting music. For getting the ASMR (Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response), I suggest you listen to these videos when you are in a peaceful surrounding or right before sleep.

Horse Farrier Video

A horse farrier basically just trims the horse's hooves. It's like a horse getting a pedicure and it is necessary to maintain the hooves in a good healthy condition. Weirdly enough the process of trimming the hooves can be quite satisfying for some reason. He has a bunch of tools which he uses to sort of peel off the excess hoof. Sounds like something most people would cringe from but actually it is painless to the horse. I wouldn't call it ASMR inducing but it certainly feels relaxing.

Massage

I don't know what it is with massages, but simply watching a video of someone getting a massage gives me a relaxing feel. Head, face, shoulder or whole body massages are instant ASMR triggers. Some of the You tube massage videos can be intense. If a viewer can get this level of relaxation, I cannot imagine the blissful state the person receiving the massage slips into.

Slime

I know, the list just keeps getting weirder. There are several videos in You tube showing people playing with large, colored, doughy slime. I was not initially sure how this would classify as ASMR inducing or relaxing, but a quick watch put my doubts to rest. People repeatedly press into the soft, shiny and highly malleable slime as it changes shape. You should try it next time when your mom is cooking something with dough!

Food

Delicious Steak

This is not for anyone. But hey, we need to cater for different tastes! There are videos on You tube which show nothing but people eating delicious food making chewing or sometimes moaning sounds. I am not sure how it induces any relaxation or satisfaction but apparently it does to some people. All it does to me is make me hungry.

Well that's it folks. It's great to have you guys here and I really enjoy putting my thoughts to words. See you in the next post!

Thanks for the recommendations! I'm listening to the first one now- it brings to mind a sunrise over a mountain range or something like that. Very relaxing!

Thanks Lane! I am glad you liked it. If you are interested in meditative music or chants, I would suggest Krishna Das. That guy's voice and music is something else. I have never experienced such relaxation from music before. For starters I suggest 2 of his songs

      1. Baba Hanuman

      2. Saraswati namaha

You can find him on Youtube.

Great Hub! Sifting through the hundreds of thousands of videos on youtube to find the ones that are actually good can be a real challenge. The meditation music one was particularly relaxing. Thanks for sharing.
