Forbes recently released its List of Breakout Stars of 2008 an interesting combination of people most of which my kids could probably relate to more than me. I probably would have chosen a few different people but then again I like a bit of diversity in my lists. These 11 stars (number 2 goes to two people) are the people to look out for in 2009 and only time will tell if they can stand the test of time or if their star status is just a fleeting glimmer.

1. JONAS BROTHERS

The Jonas Brothers a boy band that consists of three brothers: Kevin Jonas was born November 5, 1987 in Teaneck, New Jersey, Joe Jonas was born August 15, 1989 in Casa Grande, Arizona, and Nick Jonas was born September 16, 1992 in Teaneck, New Jersey (1992-09-16). The Jonas Brothers have released three albums: It's About Time in 2006, Jonas Brothers in 2007, and A Little Bit Longer in 2008. They also starred in the Disney Channel Original Movie, Camp Rock They gained popularity from being on the Disney Channel.

2. DAVID COOK AND DAVID ARCHULETA

David Cook wasborn December 20, 1982 in Houston, Texas and is a singer-songwriter who gained popularity by winning on the seventh season of American Idol.

David Archuletawasborn December 28, 1990 in Miami, Florida and is a singer who gained popularity by becoming the first runner up in the seventh season of American Idol.

3. JON HAMM

Jon Hamm was born March 10, 1971 in St. Louis, Missouri and is an actor best known for his role of the 1960s Madison Avenue advertising executive Don Draper in the AMC series Mad Men.

4. RACHEL MADDOW

Rachel Maddow was born April 1, 1973 and is a radio and television host, and progressive political commentator. Rachel Maddow has a syndicated radio program called The Rachel Maddow Show and a nightly television show with the same name. She is the first openly gay/lesbian anchor to host a prime-time news program.

5. ROBERT PATTINSON

Robert Pattinson was born May 13, 1986 in London, England. Robert Pattison is a model and an actor who first played Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and has since gained fame by playing Edward Cullen in the highly-anticipated film, Twilight.

6. DEMI LOVATO

Demi Lovato wasborn August 20, 1992 in Dallas, Texas and got her acting and singing start onBarney & Friends. In 2008, Demi Lovato starred with the Jonas Brothers in the Disney Channel Original Movie, Camp Rock.

7. SELENA GOMEZ

Selena Gomez was born July 22, 1992 in New York City, New York and got her acting and singing start on Barney & Friends. Selena Gomez is best known for playing Alex Russo on the Disney Channel Original Series, Wizards of Waverly Place.

8. SHENAE GRIMES

Shenae Grimes was born October 24, 1989 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Shenae Grimes is known for her roles of Darcy Edwards on Degrassi: The Next Generation, as well as the role of Annie Wilson in 90210.

9. KATY PERRY

Katy Perry was born October 25, 1984 in Santa BarbaraCalifornia and is a singer-songwriter. Katy Perry became famous for her single I Kissed a Girl which has become a worldwide hit.

10. WHITNEYPORT

Whitney Port was born March 4, 1985 in Los Angeles, California. WhitneyPort is a former fashion contributor for Teen Vogue and became famous for her part in the reality television series The Hills. She is also slated to star in her own reality series called The City.

Keep an eye on these breakout stars to see what they do next with their new found stardom and if they can continue to rise or maintain their celebrity. It will be interesting to see who the stars are next year and these stars continue to stay in the spotlight.
