Frankly, My Dear
Hayes. Lexa Hayes.
If you couldn't tell by my title, my name is Lexa Hayes. I recently graduated from Syracuse University's S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications with a BS in Television Radio and Film and English and Textual Studies. I recently returned from LA where my senior television thesis won a second place College Emmy from the Television Academy. Blah, I know, but I need a bit of credibility. Someday, I will be a world renown screenwriter/director, but until that time, I'll buy my ramen noodles with the money I make reviewing movies! I've traveled all over, but still dream of seeing more. I worked in Mumbai, India for a month with the film company Red Chillies. I lived in London for 5 months and visited Paris and Istanbul. I've even climbed to the top of the Acropolis in Athens, Greece. Last, but not least, I lived in LA, where I worked for Akiva Goldsman, Academy Award winning writer of A Beautiful Mind. I've only been alive for 21 years, but it's been a good 2 decades.
Why am I telling you all this? I promise, it's not to brag. I honestly don't like talking about myself; I'm far more interested in what other people have to say. However, I think since we don't know each other, it's important I tell you about who I am. Otherwise, how do you know I'm not some unemployed, middle aged guy, living in his mother's basement who just likes movies a lot? This way, you know that my opinion has some credibility.
Now that we're past the formalities, let me just say that we're going to have fun here. Movies are my life. They're all I think about 24/7, and I mean 24/7. Last night I barely slept because my mind wouldn't let me stop thinking about the screenplay I'm writing. I want you to love movies as much as I do, and like I said, I'm more interested in what you have to say. So, I want you to interact. Leave comments, participate in polls, take quizzes. Hopefully I can educate you about all sorts of different aspects of the industry, but, hopefully, I can learn from you, too! I don't want you to think I know everything, no one does. I'm still finding my way in this insane industry, but hopefully we can have fun doing it.
Until next time, "Hasta la vista, baby." ♥
