George Benson

I was in my usual watering hole in Durham having my usual Lunch when someone noticed that Mr. Benson was in the building having coffee..

The owner of the restaurant, Dorian Bolden, was informed of this and got into a conversation with Mr. Benson and I later joined the conversation....We talked about the nature of the music business, and piracy, and mob ties to the industry, and some of the interesting characters he had worked with during his career.

At the end of the day, he offered me two tickets to his concert which was amazing...I went with one of my bosses and we had a great time listening to a true legend perform with some outstanding backup musicians..

There is no doubt Mr. Benson still has it, and he had the crowd dancing when he did hits like On Broadway and This Masquerade....he played both his Pop hits as well as some of his traditional jazz standards...

I truly hope this amazing legend can come back to the area, and I'm sure those 1,000 or so I saw dancing in the theatre are hoping for the same.....
