The word through song

When I was growing up, there was always Gospel music in the house that we listened to. And being one who loves music....listening to the church choir was amazing. The people that were singing the songs were really into the word. Some were watery eyed, many sang with their eyes closed. As though the feeling was taking over them.

This is a good feeling to love GOD so that when you sing you are passing that same feeling to the listener. And many Gospel singers will do this when they sing. My favorites are the whole Winan family, Cissy Huston, The Clark sisters, Marvin Sapp, J Moss, Fred Hammond and Oletta Adams.

Ms Adams sang "Holy is the Lamb". when I listen to this, I see the baby Jesus that day being born in the stable with the farm animals. Mary and Joseph as the loving parents to this HOLY child. On this hot African night....three shepards seeking to bring Him gifts. This song really is a good one with her singing like she means it.

Then there is Fred Hammond who will sing "No Weapons.." This is so true, for how can your enemy win over you when you have the LORD GOD to guide and protect you? Listen to this message and you will see some scripture in this. You may be down but not out. Listening to "common" music that has nothing to do with having self control, or moral issues will depress you if you feel what they are singing is true.

When you read the scripture for yourself, after hearing the scripture you will be able to remember it better. It will stick with you and encourage you through out the day! I have gospel music on my iPod that I listen that makes me smile pat my foot when I listnen to it.

Find a quiet place

At home have your bible with you if you need to look up some passages that you hear. Reading and listening to the music is so very relaxing for me.

Close you eyes and put up your feet. This will help you to let that burden go from you as you meditate in the good things that GOD has done for you.

Get the gospel music that you need to hear, and enjoy it. I tell you it is a comfort to hear other people who love the LORD aqs you do sing.
