Guilty Pleasure Songs: We All Have Them, Here's Mine

Updated on August 10, 2017

I know everyone has at least a few that they do not want to admit. Some that make them laugh. Some that make them smile. Maybe even a few that might just bring a tear to the eye. I know, you are wondering exactly what I am talking about. Well, I am as guilty as charged also. What I am talking about is guilty pleasure songs. We all probably have some that we play time and time again just to bring back those odd, yet wonder memories of why we love that song in the first place. Well I am not afraid anymore. I am not afraid to hide my list of guilty pleasure songs. In fact, I would like to share them with you and want to know also, what are your guilty pleasure songs? Or, did any of my guilty pleasure songs on my list that I picked, are one of yours. And so the list begins:

Guilty Pleasure Song List

Prince-Seven: I am not a fan of Prince at all. Many seem to love him, but a majority of his music I just don’t care for. However, for some reason, I do not have a problem with the song Seven.

Nena- 99 Red Balloons: This song I love. Great music and it picks up in the middle. I just like to jam out this song from time to time. I prefer the English version. There have been many covers of this song, but this one is my favorite.

Soft Cell- Tainted Love: This is my favorite version of this song. And every time I hear it, I want to walk in slow motion.

Sir Mix-A-Lot I Like Big Butts: Don’t act like every time this song comes on you don’t start singing. I think this is one of those songs that are on everyone’s guilty pleasure list.

Notorious B.I.G. - Big Poppa: I mean, if you didn’t love this song already, the movie Hardball will help you with that. The late Notorious wrote many great rap songs, but not being a fan of rap, this song made it to the list with its catchy lyrics and slow hip-hop beat.

Ini Kamoze – Here Come the Hot Steppers: With one of those catchy beats, Jamaican style rap, and chorus that gets stuck in your head, this song is one of my more not so known guilty pleasure songs. And when I rarely here it, I get excited.

A-ha – Take One Me: The video was cool. We can all admit that. But what some of us won’t admit is that this is one of those guilty pleasure songs we sing out loud at a bar with our friends like it is the greatest song in the world. I mean, we all even try to hit those high notes.

Journey – Don’t Stop Believein: I love Journey. I own their greatest hits album. But not too many people know that. But when a Journey song like this one comes on, we are not afraid to get down and rock like eighties rock stars.

Toto – Rosanna: It could be the piano. It might be the beat that gives you a hop. Or it could just be the fact that it is a song by Toto. Whichever one it is, this made it to number two. It’s a great song to get ready too, put you in a better mood, or embarrass your friends by cranking it up in the car.

Vanilla Ice – Ice Ice Baby: I know you all were waiting for this song. Who doesn’t know the lyrics to this song? I mean, when it comes on, you know that you jam out and sing and maybe even try to replicate some of the famous dance moves that go along with the video. Ice Ice Baby should go into the guilty pleasure hall of fame.

There is my list. I am anxious to see if any of these songs made your list. I’m not ashamed to admit my guilty pleasures, so I say you do the same.

Were any of my songs on your list?

Looking back at this list, many of these songs I still would consider the guilty pleasures. I should probably start preparing a part two to this article. It was a fun one to write. I am sure I have several more new guilty pleasure songs to add to a new list.
