Happy Songs To Make You Smile!
You Gotta Smile!
There's nothing like hearing a song that just makes you feel good all over! With the warmer weather moving in, my most favorite thing is to ride the country roads, windows down, music blasting while I sing out, loud, and proud! The cows seem to like it, but the horses are bothered by my crooning. I think they're too uppity for such foolishness!
Most of my favorite happy songs are much older than I am. I enjoy music from the 50s and 60s. I was born in the 60s, but I actually grew up in the 70s and 80s. Who am I kidding?!? I never grew up! I love music from all genres and all years! However, for the purpose of this Hub, I am only concentrating on happy songs! Here are a few of my favorites, why they are, and how they make me feel. Enjoy!
Groovin' by The Young Rascals
A simple song that everyone can sing along to! This always makes me think of the beach, but I'm not sure why. It's probably from some beach movie that I've seen. Sure wish I could think of it!
On the happy meter, this one gets 4 smiles and 4 happy sunshiny faces! Note: 4 of each is a perfect score. Additional note: scoring based on personal experience. Extra additional note: your results may vary. Last note: you know what you like!

Under The Boardwalk by The Drifters
Hmm...another beach song. I'm sensing a theme here. These could also be summer songs or make-out songs or even summer make-out songs! Hey, another list!
This song just makes me happy from my toes to my nose! It has a nice flow, wonderful voices, and groovy music! Again, I'm sure I first heard this in a movie. Movie soundtracks are also a favorite thing of mine!

1979 by The Smashing Pumpkins
Just the title of this song makes me happy. I think back to 1979 and what that year means to me. My family's restaurant, watching movies in the theater next door, skateboarding on the sidewalks out front, and playing music in the laundromat. I had fun while my family worked! Hey, what else was a 13-year-old supposed to do? Great memories! Such as:
- The time the crazy lady yelled at me and my friends for laughing. We were gathered around the jukebox in the laundromat, rolling around in those clothes carts and giggling. We were just having fun. Just being kids. She thought we were laughing at her. We were in the back of the building and she was way up front. Sure lady, we're laughing at you and your big ol' holey underwear! We didn't even know she was there. Ruined our innocent teenage fun!
- The time I was skateboarding on the sidewalks one Saturday night and hit a rock. I flew out into traffic and that place was busy! There were hundreds of people standing around talking and a line of cars cruising. I have no idea whether it hurt or not because I was back up off the ground in two seconds and pretending like nothing happened. I'm glad I didn't get run over, but that sure was embarrassing!
- I would go to the restaurant every afternoon after school and I had the same routine every day. I would gorge on pizza or french fries, play pinball, stab at some homework, get sleepy and end up taking a nap on these huge freezers we had in the back. After about an hour, I was ready to go! I would take off to the music store next door or to the five and dime about five stores down. That's another story altogether. The owner of the five and dime watched us "damn teenagers" like a hawk! He was convinced that we were shoplifters! There's no telling how much merchandise "walked" out that door while that old man was watching us!
Such fun, but I was never a troublemaker! No, not me. Now my friends...

Don't Worry, Be Happy by Bobby McFerrin
This is just a happy song! It makes me think of Florida. Yeah, another song that makes me think of the beach! This song was our family vacation theme song one year. I'm not sure of the year, but I think it was 1989 or 1990. I bet we listened to it over a hundred times and it still puts a smile on my face today. It never gets old!

Mahna Mahna by The Muppets
This song gets stuck in your head! I love it! Mahna Mahna makes me think of The Muppets, but also Benny Hill. I haven't seen the old Benny Hill shows in a long time. To Amazon I go! Now that I've got this song stuck in your head, I shall bid you adieu. This has been fun!
