Updated on August 24, 2012

martial arts equals acting...strange way to think that way, but it's true for me.

Many years ago I stepped into a dojo.

I was going through something and instead of feeling sorry for myself.

I did the one thing I had always wanted to do..

Learn first hand about Martial Arts.

So I had no clue how this would change my life,

but in a very big way.

When I stepped into the dojo, where they

were teaching Capoeira...and let

me say, this martial art is a from

dervived from the African Slaves and transended

into Brazil.

This Martial Art has alot of dyanmic aerbotics flips and moves,

that you wouldn't even think it was a martial art, hence,

it is indeed disguised as a dance.

I had started training 3 to 4 times a week and loved it.

In Capoeira you are given a martial arts nickname.

Mine is "Po Do Arroz" which means "humble clown".

Even as beginner, the classes were fast and also

taught in another language. It was taught in portugese,

and can you imagine, learning a martial art in another

language...just trying to follow the class, was exciting,

but let me say, to get that physically fit was wonderful.

So I was in my 30's and just loving the training.

After awhile, people told me to get into acting,

and I thought that was crazy.

But people were telling me I had big, huge, personality,

and could do well in acting.

So I got into dinner theatre and played a bridesmaid for one show.

Afterwards, got into another show, and became an original

cast member with that show and had a ball, making people laugh

and getting paid for it.

In the meantime, I got into doing films...

yes working on set of The Gameplan, and let

me save that story for another blog.

I also got on set for the remake of The Women,

and all the while, I wanted to do a little bit more..

I know I have what it takes to act.

So I started finding the people who I could blend with.

Among one of those people...

Ahura Z. Dilliza, became a big brother of mine.

Ahura seriously was one of the first people,

who believed in me and even had me

fight him in the film Anikryua.

The fight scene was a few minutes,

but seriously Ahura is a big brick wall,

and solid, so to think that I had to have

a first fight scene with him, I nearly

was going to poop my pants.

I was excited and so happy,

but the reality crept in when,

the first time Ahura threw me and I hit the ground with a thud.

We didn't have matts...oh no...we went and

just did the fight scene.

For a couple of hours being thrown around by

Ahura, made me realize, how people like Jackie Chan,

work.

So that is where everything really truly started for me.

Oh yes, I did work on some other things,

but most of those things, weren't really that great,

but maybe I'll talk more about some things I did work on,

another time...

but now here I am..

doing Falcyrr....oh I'll write a little blog about that..

But when I was a little girl,

sitting in front of the tv watching Wonder Woman,

little did I know, in the future,

would I be playing a Wonder Woman in a film.

So indeed with something that I had wanted to do my whole

life....I am now doing much more than that,

and all because of something that was in my heart,

ever since I can remember

working
