Humorously Flawed TV and Movie Listings

Updated on July 19, 2014

Every day newspapers and hospitality brochures across the globe provide consumers with guides that make our television viewing decisions easier. And most of the time these handy print guides are reliable, no-nonsense materials. But every now and then the people that write them print some big goofs. The following clippings are from my personal collection, and while a few might seem a bit irreverent, I present them for entertainment purposes. I hope you get a good-humored kick out of them as I have.

This first guide listing reminds us that there is truth in advertising.

While this one shows us that sometimes truth is in the eye of the guide writer.

Proving what we all suspected but were just too patriotic to say.

I used to watch The X-Files religiously, but to think I missed this enthralling episode!

Typically, I loathe "Arthur", but I'd give up coffee a week to see this episode.

Why clowns scare some and Jersey white trash terrifies us all.

Yes, I remember hearing some talk about this back in November of '08!

Because honesty is the best policy.

Nope, I've never trusted that Elmo.

I'm assuming this writer isn't a huge fan of women's talk shows?

There are three or four versions of this particular movie listing circulating the 'net. Makes you wonder if the writers may be in the tiny majority of people who have never even once seen this movie?

Yes, it is the name of an actual character from the show! But it is still good fodder for a dirty mind.

Must be something in the water...

When the newspaper owners are too cheap to hire a proof-reader, it shows, it truly, truly does.

I thought I watched this movie; but I don't remember the plot being anything like this!

Jodah, I guess it was bound to happen somewhere, what with a character bearing that name. The temptation was probably too great, lol.

Thanks much hon and appreciate you dropping in!

This was so funny Beth, especially 'The Sopranos' reference .."something fishy" hehe. I think they should always use proof readers. I know a lot of hubbers who would love the job. Voted funny.

Poor Arthur!!! I would hate to see the episode where he is roadkill! It amazes me that people get hired to write this stuff and then they completely make it sound absurd sometimes. Too funny!

It was interesting Beth and somewhat funny. Sorry, I do not have a dirty mind so I missed that one and Sesame Street drives me crazy so that went over my head. I did share it.

LOL! I love the yak yak yak! funny stuff! I have noticed a few when I look at the TV and see the reviews at the bottom of the screen, sometimes I think they must be drunk or something!
