If you were given the privilege to change the "Ending of the GREAT QUEEN SEON DOK", how are you going to end it?
Characters
With whom do you like her to end up with?
Queen Seon Dok was no doubt one of the best Soap Opera from Korea, hitting asia with mixed emotions, and lingering effects of its very sad ending. I myself is a Queen Seon Dok fan, though I already like Lee Yo Won the first time I watched her at Bad Love or Cruel Love in the Philippines, her portrayal in the story made me like her even more...
Majority said it was a sad ending.... and although it was really sad ( I watched the ending several times, still I can't help but get affected) I can say that ending made the story more interesting and magical in effects.
To help us overcome hahahaha, let us share here the "ending" that we like in case we are given the privilege to do so... for fun guys... I wonder if the Artists like Lee Yo Won, Kim Nam Gil and Uhm Tae Wong still have time to browse the net and read all our comments, I wonder how will they react....
For me, I want the Queen Seon Dok ending to be a little lighter, meaning... I dont want Queen Seon Dok to die, I would like to see her in conjugal ties with Yushin Rang but will retire as a Queen and hand over the throne to Chunchu... Anyway the unification of the three kingdom she already delegated to them. I would like too see a few scene where Chun Chu was already a King. Bidam will not die too but instead led a new life in another place away from Silla...
Bidam-Deokman moments became the meat of QSD ending

Yushin win Deokman/the real person since they loved each other even before Deokman finds out she's royalty. Bidam just wins the sick, lonely Queen (sorry but it's true). I've always liked the Yushin-Deokman pairing since it's not a typical relationship; it goes much deeper than the one between Bidam-Deokman. I never understood why people don't see it - BiDeok winning the Best Couple award was also so disappointing but that was because people voted mostly for Bidam not the couple itself (and I am glad both the actor and actress admitted as much) and because typical, tragic romances are appealing to people.
For me, YuDeok was the real relationship of the show and I think the writers meant it that way too - it's only disappointing that not many people see it.
i want to see bidam more battle scenes and become king and then marry deokman.bidam rules and conqure all.bidam was actual king jingji son btw so bidam should be king already.the script anyhow plot.ending for mishil is stupid no battle and commit suicide and this show ending for bidam is the same commit suicide.y cant they show battle scene being capture or surrender.this is ridiculous sick both commit suicide hardcore scriptwriter.i hate that sicko sciptwraiter forever.
I meant "think of something greater".
I'm a guy and let me tell you, even I'm stumped about the ending. I watched the entire drama and was taught so many things about life, morals, discipline, and yes even love. It's this kind of stuff that more people need to watch. This will remain as my favorite drama simply for the way the drama ended. I always think back to the saying "think of someone greater" from Yushin's fight with Bidam in the martial arts tournament. There was much more at stake than love, thus Yushin and Deokman kept their love as hidden and professional as possible. Bidam on the other hand is more reckless and I guess would be considered the "mysterious" kind of guy that women find amusing. That's probably why Deokman felt lady-like around him, but her responsibilities always kept her from Bidam. It's a tough drama to accurately conclude considering that Yushin, the nice guy, is the last man standing. Generally this means that the nice guy comes out on top, yet Deokman is wearing Bidam's ring. But we also have to consider Deokman's last words to Yushin about their attempt to run away and live together from earlier in the drama. Shall they do it now? Yushin's the last man standing but I can't help but feel that Deokman's heart is with Bidam. Yushin won the Queen's heart but Bidam won Deokman's heart. So I guess it's a win win? I'm still a Yushin/Deokman fan.
I think that even though it's a pity that Bidam dies, it's the only ending that can make sense. I definitely agree with Seattle girl! I always hope that Deokman agreed to marry Bidam but never professed any kind of "true" affection for him. He'd die believing she loved him while in her final moments, she confessed to Yushin that she wanted to marry Bidam because she couldn't have Yushin. I think that's much better, because in a way, both Bideok and Yudeok are happy: Deokman's display of affections for Bidam are genuine and Deokman's love for Yushin is eternal. :)
They were both fake!! Bidam and Deokman were living together in another country while Deokman's sister ruled the country because she faked her death...IKR crazy ending but at least Bidam is happy
I just finished the series a few days ago (Sept 28th 2012). I am definitely a Yudeok fan. I never saw any chemistry between Deokman and Bidam and the way the script was rushed to show them together is too artificial for my liking (due to Yushin's 'rejection' of her in the jail scene about the Bo Gya Hoe connection and also due to her loneliness?). I would like the ending to show Deokman telling Yushin that even though she made a decision to marry Bidam, the one and only person she truly loved was Yushin.
I first watched QSD 3 years ago but didn't get really hooked on. Now, after rewatching it, I found myself literally crying and rooting for Yushin-Deokman. If it were up to me, I would make Deokman tell Yushin (after announcing her plan to marry Bidam) that although she loves Bidam, Yushin will always be irreplaceable to her. I want Deokman to love Bidam because he comforts her, not because she purely loves him. In the last scene, I want Deokman to say more about what she feels. I want Deokman to express her regret over not running away with Yushin years ago and I want her to truly, really ask Yushin if they can run away again. In the end, I, as a Yudeok, do not acknowledge anything between Bidam & Deokman. I dunno, I just don't see the spark between them.
I loved QSD but hated the ending. I wanted the Queen & Yu Shin together. He really was her one true love. Her feelings for Bidam were just because she couldn't have the man she loved and she was so lonely. The one key thing she states about what made her turn to him is because he let herself forget she was Queen hence her desire to live in the past. Her deep love for Yu Shin was really what she wanted before she took the path to Queen.
I bawled through all of Yu Shin & Deokman's scenes. Yet I never felt anything during her scenes with Bidam. Their relationship only lasted 10 episodes & really felt rushed probably due to the extension of the series from 51 to 62 episodes.
MC,
This ending would have been the ultimate tear jerker if both commited suicide. Of course he would have whacked his uncles, aunties, nephews even so called family members that were anywhere near the palace.
Thanks for everything, I will check them out.
Yes, it was at the end when he was visiting her tomb. I don't know much about the history, but I noticed that mostly royalty wore the red. That was why I was wondering. Did it seem she generally regretted not leaving with Yusin although she wore the matching Bidam ring? Thanks for explaining everything, it was much appreciated. I was trying to find the answer. Many sites were informative, but none had someone who was kind enough to maintain and continue posting. Thanks for everything. :)
Thanks the page is interesting. Did Deokman give the throne to Yusin at the end? The translation I saw I believe it said something along the lines of "I leave Silla to you." We also ever saw Chunchu again, and Yusin was wearing the red cape afterwards??
If I could change the ending I would have had Deokman and Yusin together. She would have realized after Bidam's betrayal that Yusin was the one she loved, but she would NOT have died after realizing it. I felt sorry for Bidam at times, but his insecurites really could not justify all of his actions.
Actually I think that Bidam should have allowed himself to be caught. Then Deokman would be spared the agony of seeing him killed (no doubt it was actually that ending that made the tory fly). Then a false bidam will be executed in his place. The real bidam and a retired deokman will move to China and live happily there.
Hi MC! I use sachel online. You'd find it funny but my nickname at home is maricel. Yup! I've just read about LYW's new series at dramabeans, looking forward to it as I am also following JIW although I haven't watched his “Return to Iljimae” yet. I don't think I'll be joining the facebook pages, will probably lurk though. I am a fan of their talent and work but not the celebrity. I mean no offense. It's just that I am more into story and characters rather than on the celebrities. I consider great films/ dramas as modern lit and an extension of reading (which i also love to do). It’s a shame that I get my fix from foreign ones. Would love to see the day I’d find a Filipino film/drama, I’d get this involved with. UTW was admirable too but I find his Yushin character too good to be true. I rooted for the YS-DM team early on, I just lost steam because Yushin became so unbelievably rational. Agree there were certain times he looked longingly at DM but it never went beyond that. How can somebody not succumb to old feelings when you still see the love of your life every day? He never committed a mistake, he was always just a victim of circumstances. Would have forgiven him if he showed even just a wee bit of interest in marrying DM when the situation called for it. Really?! Who wouldn’t right?! Hehe sorry, we all have are opinions right? I love Bidam (the character and the portrayal) because he was so damn complicated and realistic. Charismatic and dangerous. And also because he reminds me of someone I used to know. In reality, humans are in various degrees of emotional brokenness, he just seemeed so real to me. However, haha wouldn’t choose him for a mate either. I aim for stability in a relationship, and marrying a Bidam although undeniably exciting, would be one hell of an emotional roller coaster ride.
Hi maria cecilia! (if this is your real name then we're "magkatukayo".) didn't think you'd respond so quickly, so many thanks! I find I have no one to discuss QSD with since its fever has died down. I think I'm going watch it again with english subs this time. I followed the tagalog dubbed and there were certain scenes deleted by GMA 7. I love Alcheon too. I believe he should have been given his own story. I think from the little that I have read about the real Alcheon Rang in korean history, he was the one who truly possessed the character emobodied by Yushin in the drama. That being said, I'd still say, KNG was really, really brilliant.
i just finished QSD last night and I'm on withdrawal symptoms. I would have wanted for the Queen to show vulnerability in the end. All throughout the story Deokman was in equal parts vulnerable and strong. Her strength lies in her compassionate heart. Her reaction towards witnessing the death of Bidam was so out of character. So yes in the end, I would have wanted her to reach out and respond to the offering of love from Bidam, ultimately declaring for all to see that indeed there was love between them. Bidam would still die but before he does, he would have witnessed, felt and received the one thing he had ever wanted in his life, that is acceptance and love. That would have been a satisfying ending for me... Tragic but bittersweet...
wow! i really like this question..for me Bidam's death is unavoidable, if not there may won't have the Bidam fever like right now haha..but i wld change the way QSD reacted, her showing more of the heartbroken feelings rather than step up-give speech-faint-last look..she shd at least touch him or reach out to him when he gave her his hand!! grrrr...and i still don't understand why Bidam killed all those soldiers anyway haha..i don't want Alcheon to stab him!! hating Yushin is enoughXD and i think that the scriptwriters shd add more 'misunderstanding' between deokman-bidam, cause its quite weird that Bidam can be that easily 'swayed' by Yeom Jeong's trick.
um at maria no offense but ur opinion of deokman loving yushin more I highly disagree with it why else would she have died right after bidam died? I mean she could have lived with yushin as her support but she didn't because whether she liked it or not she was depend on bidam's support and love and when she lost it she could no longer bare it and as for the ending well I have to say that even though it was heartbreaking I liked it and I wouldn't really change it except the fact that bidam died by yushin's hand I would rather perfer alcheon's
deokman wud stop her soldiers to kill bidam, hug him tight and fight for their love.
I know it’s a tragic ending and many fans were really sad of it, especially for the Bideok fans. So a lot of viewers would like a happy one instead. However, to me, I really have no objection of its ending. Somehow I always prefer sad ending for ancient history dramas. I think it affects me more and leaves an everlasting impression of it.
I wish bidam would have atleast said what he wanted to say.. other than that, the ending was more than exceptional..
@Cecil: Yeah i've read about that...and I thought that was you...i must be confused...bec of too many comments there.
The comment above me is quite true about the unification of the three kingdoms...I think in real life/history it was really General Yushin who made it happen...going back top the drama, Moon Oh was right in saying that Yushin is the "one" re: about the books, that angered Bidam.
Did you watch Jewel in the Palace and Jumong? I did watch them but it was only with QSD that I really got hooked on researching about Korean history...I'd like to visit the burial sites of the kings and queens, then the statue of General Yushin too.
Am watching Jumong again and am enjoying the fight scenes in Jumong...LOL!
hello Cecilia, I saw you at Feb's page and I was really amazed at how enthralled and engrossed you are at QSD, as in you really have created an extended storyline for it...kung sabagay "naloka " rin ako sa seon dok na ito...as for it's ending, I would still prefer the same ending but I just wanted Bidam to reach the Queen and die in her arms...
The cast was beautiful, the performance was outstanding, the story was historical, the execution in general was SUPERB, however the ending didn't really show the ultimate goal of the story from the beginning which is the "unification of the 3 kingdoms". There should be a clear ending, dont you think? And my biggest issue is..Bidam and the Queen died! That should have not happened! Can anyone please explain this???Thanks
>first, i was hoping that Bidam would say "deokman, I Love You very much!"
>2nd, deokman should be the one who stubbed bidam, and he will fall on her shoulder, then she would hear those words of unselfish and undying love of Bidam for her... after taking the life of Bidam she will regret it.. then she will have a heart attack that will cause of her death.. then they will die together.. embracing and having each other..
3rd, seondok should have given the throne to prince chun-chu, and Bidam should left mi shils' clan.. then she and Bidam should have fled away in a place where they can live together happily as what they wished before... in short, a happy ending...
honestly i love Bidam as what he is!!!! and i like deokman too.. as a brave woman!
i want bidam to marrie ddoc man
aaahh..
okay... thank for the info..
wow...like it!
Did Deokman die?oooohhh how sad...
hmmmm..If I will be given a chance to change the ending of QSD....for me, Deokman will not die then he will marry Yushin rang...the throne will be given to chunchu..hehe..
then...that's it..
I have a question: Did deokman and bidam married each other?
hmmm...
thank you Miss Maria for this page..
I would like the same without one exception . Bidam to have the chance to touch hear , embrance her even and say what he wanted to say - could be another word that her name - could be " sarang hae " :)))
