In a World of Reality
Ironic, that it all started with "Survivors". Now I feel that I may be the only survivor in the World of Reality TV shows. It seems that no one writes/produces/directs movies for television anymore. Anyone who can toss the most, dance the most, sing the most, irritate the most, this list goes on and on, can become a television star.
Let's begin with our day with the news, the best reality there is. Next, you tune into the bad boy cop shows, then move ahead into made for the TV courtroom. Find that boring? Well, you can become a sleuth and help solve crimes within a whole 48 hours. Not your bag? Well, let's check out all those bored housewives. Seems every state has ample enough bored women who show their idea of decent behavior.
Change gears and watch a few episodes of the kids wearing the tiaras and the dance mommies. Do these mothers really act like this in front of their children? I have seen assaults, battery, and just plain abuse and no one calls the authorities. Why? Because we as a society find it entertaining. That's just plain scary!
I think we have enough to fill a week without watching something twice. From hillbilly duck callers to redneck millionaires, storage wars, catfisher anglers, and pawnbrokers, there is nothing that the reality shows haven't tried to duplicate.
Let's face some facts here, we live reality every day. It is up to you to choose to watch it, be part of it, or just ignore it. There are just some things that are best left alone to take its course. Reality is one of those things. If you don't believe me, think again. If ten million people were watching you and waiting for you to make a decision, do you really think your decision would be made without thinking of your audience?
