"Immortals"- Movie Review

Updated on November 11, 2011

Today came out the movie Immortals, and as a fan of mythological battle movies and the movie 300, which producer are the same as this one, I had to go and watch it as soon as it came out. So before midnight my boyfriend and I were at the movie theater buying our tickets. There were no line to get in, but the room was pretty full already. I normally don't review movies, not even if they are as bad as The Last Airbender (which as a fan of the series made me so mad), but this time I said I need to say something about this one. So this review is a short one with some quick details about the movie and my very personal opinion about it.

What to expect

First, you have to be 18 yrs old and up, to get in. Why? Because this movie is full of action and fierce graphic fights with lots and lots and lots of blood; so if you have a baby face be ready to present your id.

The story is about how Theseus is trying avenge his mother and stop the bloodthirsty King Hyperion and his army that are going rampage across Greece in search of the Bow of Epirus with the sole purpose of releasing the titans and overthrow the Gods of Olympus. When Hyperion kills Theseus' mother and this swear to avenge her. A fateful meeting with the Sybelling Oracle moves the threads of faith and lead Theseus to embrace his destiny and lead an army to battle a final battle to save humanity.

I know, this sounds like the cliche story, where the hero is almighty and seems to be more powerful than the gods, it is not like that. Theseus is portrayed as a skilled human, who fight to protect the only one he loves. I don't want to say to much because it will spoil the movie. With great computer generated scenarios and special effects it has nothing to envy any other movie of its category, that said, in my opinion, the movie is very well done. All the actors are good and there is not any long and insignificant dialog; as I said before it is action packed from beginning to end (literately). If you like movies like, Gladiator, Troy, 300 and any other bloody battle type movie with gods and mythical entities, you'll like this one. I think it is an amazing movie and give it all 5 stars. Definitely, another blockbuster.

Judge by yourself and let me know what you think.

Thanks for the comments, glad it has wake up your interest in the movie. Cogerson, Rourke owned the character, it was great. Like you I was disappointed with all the movies after 300, but now I'm happy again.

Thanks for an awesome review...your enthusiasm for Immortals has me looking forward to seeing the movie. Glad to see it is as good as 300...I loved that movie. And I have been disappointed in the movies that have followed 300...but it sounds like Immortals could be a classic as well. So I have one question...how was Mr. Rourke in the movie? I am linking your review to my Top Films of 2011 hub....hope it brings you some additional traffic. Thanks for getting this review out so fast....voted up and awesome.
