Is Kanye West for real when he says "Jesus is King?"
Jesus is King
Jesus is King
So, the buzzwords on just everybody's lips have been "Kanye West" and his new album entitled Jesus is King, released on October 25th, 2019. But of course the question at the back of everyone's minds is: is he sincere?
One thing is for sure, and that is that this album is strikingly different from his previous albums such as "Ye" which feature tracks like Ghost Town, and I Thought About Killing You etc. The lyrics in the Ye album are much like his previous albums — profane and proud.
Who is Kanye?
Kanye West, was born on June 8, 1977, in Atlanta, Georgia, USA.
He's an American producer, rapper, and fashion designer who parlayed his production success in the late 1990s and early 2000's into a career as a popular, critically acclaimed solo artist.
The Book of Yeezy
“In the beginning Kanye created the heaven and the earth ... and Kanye said, Let there be light: and there was light.”
So reads a passage from The Book of Yeezus, a modified version of the Genesis book of the Bible in which every mention of God is replaced with recovering megalomaniac Kanye West.
Track List of Jesus Is King
The Jesus is King album has a track list that looks as if someone who has really experienced God would sing about. Here is a photo taken from his wife, Kim Kardashian's instagram feed.
The Verdict
Having listened to every song on this album, I can't say whether he is truly sincere, because only those closest to him would know, however given the lyrics, on this album, for example on his track entitled "God" he says:
That’s why I charge the prices that I charge / I can’t be out here Dancing With the Stars
On his track "Hands On" he says:
"Told the devil that I'm goin' on a strike, I've been workin' for you my whole life"
This would indeed cause one to believe that he's not doing it for the money, or fame, but to glorify God, and he just wants to share the gospel, as his mission. However we will have to wait and see, whether he actually lives a Christ-like lifestyle, and forsakes everything else, he is after all, but a baby Christian.
In the meantime, let's hope the demons are trembling and that God will use this celebrity to shine a light on the gospel to an untapped audience. Listen for yourself, for the words in this album do in fact glorify God.
Beloved, believe not every spirit, but test the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
— John, in John 4:1 King James Version (KJV)Use This Gospel
