The World's First Super Model, Janice Dickinson

Updated on October 13, 2009

Back in the day...

You might not have realized this, but the first Supermodel, according to Janice Dickinson (the world's first Supermodel), was Janice Dickinson. She wouldn't tell you this herself, not more than 40 or 50 times, so I've taken it upon myself to spread the word that Janice Dickinson was in fact, the world's first supermodel.

But she's not all long legs, eyelashes, mammary glands and the rest of it, no. Janice also used to be the possessor of one (1) career destroying drug addiction, which killed her stellar career in the 80's. Up until that point she had been featured on the cover of Vogue, Elle, and Cosmopolitan. Janice is credited with breaking down many of the barriers in the modeling industry, mostly the ones that said models were blonde, pretty, and demure. Janice showed the world that it was possible to be a brazen hussy and an excellent model. We can thank her for Kate Moss. Thanks Janice! (Did you know she was the world's FIRST supermodel?)

There are people who dispute that Janice was in fact the first supermodel, or that she ever was a supermodel at all. While Janice says that she coined the phrase in 1979, the phrase was later found to have been used in a 1968 article. This writer believes that the magazine was probably planted by the same people who go around shoving dinosaur fossils under mountain ranges and saying that evolution is true. Fools!

That's right. In her autobiography she reveals that she threw away Daddy's heart medication, and later that night he had a heart attack and died. Bad timing. Luckily for Janice, the statute of limitations was up by the time her book was published, so no charges were able to be laid, there was only money to be made.

Janice Dickinson was totally the world's first supermodel, in spite of the fact that there are some who claim that she is not a supermodel at all. The 'official' supermodels are supposed to be: Claudia Schiffer, Christy Turlington, Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell, and Linda Evangelista. What is this? The 90's? Get a grip people. Janice will forever be the first supermodel.

Janice also has a talent for music, kind of. This makes her the first Supermodel EVER to make a music video that is as cool as this one. (Yes,. Heidi Klum made one, but it wasn't nearly as cool, or self promotional, and was cheating anyways because she's married to Seal.)

Here's her twelve days of Christmas video, you should totally watch it, because she's hot, and because she was the world's FIRST SUPERMODEL.

Janice was *not* the first supermodel by any means. She is just full of herself, which means she's full of sh*t. She keeps hoping that, by saying it a million times, it will come true. If that is so,she should keep repeating "I am pretty" or "I am classy" or even "I am sane". Good luck with any of those.

Was she also the first supermodel to get breast implants that look like cantaloupe halves under her skin? What a trailblazer!
