KOD Album Review
KOD is J Cole's fifth studio album and his first in two years. It comes after 2016 less than perfect 4 Your Eyez Only. The album dives into drugs, addiction, and greed. Singles such as "KOD" and "ATM" are the highly playable and fun tracks. Tracks like "Once an Addict" show the emotional side of the album. J Cole is know as one of the best lyricist in hip-hop today. He is at his best. In songs like "Once an Addict" he is at his best, but even in songs such as "ATM" his crisp lyrics and a powerful delivery that makes you want to stop and catch your breathe.
My three personal favorites are "Friends", " Brackets ", and " Once an Addict ". I personally love emotional songs that tell a story.
Even the more radio friendly songs like "ATM" and "KOD" offer the lyrics we except from J Cole.
If I had to pick the worst song it would be Motov8. The song wasn't necessarily bad, it just wasn't as good as the rest of the songs.
The album didn't seem to have any filler tracks.
Overall I thinks it's one of the best albums Cole has put our in years. It's one of the best albums of the year. For any hip-hop fan both old and new this album should definitely be on your list.
