Kings of Leon formed in 1999. Sothern boys with a southern rock style is what Kings of Leon is all about! Band members consist of Anthony, Ivan, Michael and Cameron. You may not have recognized the names as those are actually the band members first and given names, but they prefer or recognize themselves as their second names, or known as, middle names.. So, let's try this again.

Band members include:

1. (Anthony) Caleb- Lead Singer and Guitar
2. (Ivan) Nathan- Drummer
3. (Michael) Jared- Bassist and Piano
4. (Cameron) Matthew- Lead Guitar and backup vocals

Initially the band found great success in the United Kingdom. All of their albums peaked within the Top Five on the charts and they won numerous awards. When Only By The Night was released in 2008, singles such as  "Sex on Fire", "Use Somebody" and "Notion" brought the long awaited popularity in the United States. New album,  Come Around Sundown, was released on October 18, 2010. The single, Radioactive, is making it's way into popularity on radio and with fans. The album is selling fast and is sure to be another great achievement for the boys.

So why call themselves Kings of Leon?

Well here is that middle name thing again. The brothers (Caleb, Jared and Nathan) Father and Grandfather had the middle name of Leon. Therefore, in honor of those two men, came the name Kings of Leon. What else did you expect from respectful Southern boys?

Who can resist the raspy, deep baritone voice of Lead Singer Caleb Followill? Born January 14th of 1985, this man has done alot in his short 25 years on Earth. Traveling extensively with his brothers and Father from Church to Church as a boy, he became accustomed to variety and life on the road. That lifestyle must have prepared him for the touring and craziness of his stardom, for he never seems broken and gives a show to be remembered at each concert!

What comes with success?

A super hot girlfriend! Sorry ladies, he is taken. Model Lily Aldridge has been in his sights and in his heart from 2007 to present. In fact, in September of this year (2010) he asked this fair maiden to take his hand.

 Nathan is what keeps the beat of Kings of Leon going. Nathan was born in 1979 and is the drummer for Kings of Leon. He become a husband to singer-songwriter Jessie Baylin on November 14, 2009.. They are living in  Brentwood, Tennessee.

Jared Followill was born November 20, 1986. He joined Kings of Leon at the young age of 15. Although this boy did not know how to play bass, and truthfully didn't even want to play the bass, he was to be the bassist!

Jared taught himself to play - taught himself! Awesome. He is a remarkable and rare talent. He also play piano for the band. 

Matthew Followill was born September 10, 1984. He is the lead guitar and back vocals for the band. Being the cousin to the rest of the band members, he was born and raised in Oklahoma.

Learning to play guitar at 10 years old, he was ready when the band came calling. He now lives in Tennessee and Los Angeles,California with wife Johanna Bennett.

On January 31, 2010, Kings of Leon took home the Grammy award for Record of the Year! Beating out Beyonce, Taylor Swift and the Black-eyed Peas. They also received Grammys for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal and Best Rock Song for "Use Somebody."

Certainly no surprise to me or other fans of this band.
