Michael Vick To Play For The Eagles
Philadelphia Makes A Great Choice??
Dan Sileo of WDAE in Tampa broke the news on Thursday, August 13th 2009 that Michael Vick has excepted to play with the Philadelphia Eagles. Joel Segal, Vick's agent has confirmed that it's a one year deal for $1.6 Million, with a team option for 2010 at $5.6 Million.
He has to pass a routine physical before joining the team. Per the terms of his current NFL suspension, Vick probably will not be able to play until the Eagles third preseason game.
A lot of people are happy and some are upset because they feel that he got off too easy for his Dogfighting Charges. It seems as though people do not realize that he is very remorseful and just ready to get his life back in order. He stated on "60 Minutes" that he failed himself for not being a leader and stopping the activities that were taking place right under his nose. I agree but I also feel that if you do your time then you should have a second chance at making up for it.
PETA's Senior Communication's Coordinator said in a written statement, "PETA certainly hopes that Vick has learned his lesson and feels truly remorseful for his crimes - but since he has given no public indication that that's the case, only time will tell".
I feel that he has reached the public by speaking on "60 Minutes" and at the press conference held Friday August 14th 2009 but maybe no one has seen that?? Either or I feel he deserve's a chance to get his career back. He is a great player and I think the Eagles have made a great choice.
