You Must See this Amazing Video
Male Singer Sounds Like Whitney Houston
Did you watch the first videos of Great Britain's charming Susan Boyle - of the unaffected manner (so far) and the lovely, sweet voice. She was amazing, wasn't she? She blew away Simon Cowell and company with her performance of the beautiful song, "I Dreamed a Dream," from "Les Miserables."
Well, get ready. You're going to be blown away again. Just as Susan Boyle dazzled the judges on the television show, "Britain's Got Talent," wait till you see and hear Lin Yu Chun and his version of "I Will Always Love You." He performed it on the Taiwan TV show, "Super Star Avenue."
When you closed your eyes and listened to fhis boy wonder, did you feel as if you were listening to Whitney Houston? or Dolly Parton? He's called a boy wonder but the "boy" part is misleading. Although he looks like a teenager, he has attained the ripe old age of 24. But the wonder part is absolutely accurate.
Although the video gives credit to Whitney Houston's rendition of the song, "I Will Always Love You," it was written and subsequently recorded by Dolly Parton in 1973. Watch the next video of Whitney Houston's version from the sound track of the movie, "BodyGuard," in which she co-starred with Kevin Costner.
Now that you have heard Whitney's version as well as Lin's, don't they sound remarkably alike? Lin seems to be the favorite to win the grand prize on the Taiwan TV show which is one million dollars, as well as the opportunity to release an album. Not bad for a previously unknown, chubby, height-challenged singer. He also has amazing eyebrows - did you notice?
Now take a look at this video of Dolly Parton singing her own song from the soundtrack of the movie, "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas," in which she co-starred with the ubiquitous Burt Reynolds. Isn't she pretty? Isn't he pretty, too?
Leona Lewis sang her version of the song on Britains's "X Factor" television show in 2006 -similar to the TV show, "Britain's Got Talent," which rocketed Susan Boyle to superstardom. It hasn't hurt Leona's career, either.
Now that you have listened to all four versions, which is your favorite? Please take the poll below and comment, too. Thank you.
Which artist's version of the song, "I Will Always Love You," is your favorite?
Something to Think About
Susan Boyle's first album has sold millions of copies worldwide to date and she netted her first royalties with a check for $4,000,000 which coincided with her 49th birthday.
Will Lin Yu Chun do as well?

Thank you for sharing this. While they were all amazing, I chose Whitney because I just so enjoyed her voice and how she carried us through the song with her. I had the pleasure of seeing her with my daugther on the Fourth of July in Tampa one year and she sang this song....it was a moment we have treasured...a golden voice. Now lost but thankfully captured on video and CD. sending Angels t0 you :0 ps
Have just seen this and am blown away by this young man's rendition of this beautiful song. He got my vote in the poll, though I'd usually vote for Dolly over the others who sing it. You're right, BTW, Dolly wrote this song for Porter Wagoner when she left his show. I think there was some disagreement between them at the time, to do with the show, not a romantic relationship, and she then wrote it to show Porter how she really felt about him and express her gratitude to him as her mentor. So it isn't really a love song in the usual romantic way, but a song of love and appreciation for someone who had helped her to fulfil her dream. There's a very touching video on YouTube of her singing it to Porter on stage shortly before his death, you can see how moved he is by it.
That poll at the end was a hard one. I was planning on just voting for Whitney Houston but Lin and Leonna's versions sort of mimic hers. They're all great. Dolly Parton's the original so she should get the credit. :) She also has a very pretty voice.
Hub voted up and awesome.
I've seen the Taiwanese boy on TV. He is such a talented kid. Great videos!
drbj, WHAT a fab must see amazing video, they are all great and although I really love them all Dolly is my fave, she owns this song! I have chills.... Peace :)
Gosh, this song is doing the rounds. But the boy singing it has a real talent, and talent comes in all kinds of interesting packages. I love the way you set up the various videos for comparison. Excellent Hub.
You are correct, he has an amazing voice. I gotta say though, that I will always love Dolly.
Namaste.
*appears, warbling* :)
Lin Yu Chun rocks. For me anyway. Fantastic voice!
drbj you should hear my voice!!
No really. You should. It's Awesome!
Ish ... Kinda. It's not bad. Not great either. Could be better. By a mile. A longgggg mile.
It's awful :|
Fab hub, love the topic, wonders will never cease in your neck of the Hubs!
Nice hub and wow that guy has an amazing voice. You know how Simon on AMerican Idol is always saying that no one can do Whitney? I think he came the closest to anyone being able to do Whitney. WOw.Cheers.
they are all amazing, although I like the boy hehe, refreshing Thank you drbj, Maita
Wonderful stuff. Good luck
WOW - tough choice. In a way they were all different. Of course Dolly wrote the song & for awhile it waa all her song, till Whitney made it into a big hit. Both were really good. Leona Lewis blows me away even more. But I'll have to say that Lin Yu Chun, the young Chinese fellow from Taiwan really amazed me and I think it's his day in the sun. So I have to say he was the best of them. Great hub, drbj!
Love Dolly's version best. Wonder boy may be 24, but he sounds and looks like he will always be a boy.
Wonderful hub. They are all magnificent singers. I voted for the young man but really they were all wonderful
