Oakvale: Nadir's Calling
This is in dispute personally of being my favorite song we play. I guess it really depends on my mood. Either way, it is by far one of the coolest songs I've written. By cool I mean I'm impressed that I could do something like this. I don't know how I do it sometimes, it's like I'm a conduit for the muses. The inspiration for this song was Linkin Park, they have a unique style of song which does a call and answer. If you heard their music (which I'm very sure you have) then you know what I'm talking about.
(Intro/Chorus)
Cringing at the light of day, fearing a glimpse of salvation
Unaware of a way, to reach a place of sensation
Alive still to his dismay, breathing causes consternation
Path in life led astray, feels like another separation
(1st Verse- call then answer)
The darkness closing in
-I've tried all I could but I couldn't win
Stagnant air choking me
-All feeling is lost and I need to flee
Fear creeping in my soul
-You would not believe how unbearable
Where have you all gone?
-Got on with your life and left me alone
Turn around, what's that sound?
What have I done, what I've become!
(2nd verse- call then answer)
The doubt behind your eyes
-The same feeling I get when I hear your lies
Given up on myself
-With a hate I cannot quell
Sick of the day to day
-That's okay I can't stand me anyway
My strength has left from me
-See what did I tell you I'm a nobody
Turn around, what's that sound?
What have I done, what I've become?
(Chorus)
Cringing at the the light of day, fearing a glimpse of salvation
Unaware of a way, to reach a place of sensation
Alive still to his dismay, breathing causes consternation
Path in life led astray, feels like another separation
Turn around what's that sound?
What have I done, what I've become!
No Emo
This isn't a song to show that I'm depressed or anything. I wrote this because of the title of the song. Nadir is the opposite of zenith, it's used in reference of space but it could also be used as a metaphor for a persons spirit. It ended up being a pretty potent song and I had a lot of people come ask me if I was okay. A-okay! It's one of my more favorite to play and I wish we recorded it cause I'd love to share it with all of you, maybe someday.
