Unexpected joys found in Nature

Nature is so incredible and amazing. If you just keep your eyes open, you will see amazing beauty around you in life. Since I was a very young child, it seems I have been in awe of nature. I wouldn't have it any other way. Life can be rough sometimes, as we all know. No matter what is going on, one can travel a short distance to "get away" as it were, from the harshness or frustrating elements life can bring us, and focus instead on the beauty around us.

You can find beauty in common things even, by being a keen observer in both sight and sound. Using all our senses we can appreciate nature, and this hub is just a sampling of some photos from nature that I want to share with you. I hope you enjoy. I will go photo by photo.

Photo 1 - I love this birds nest with eggs, found in a short little tree. I was just working in the garden when I came across it. I was so excited, and I didn't want to disturb the nest. I did go in the house to grab my camera though. I knew if i didn't capture this, I may not get another chance later. The intricacies of a nest are just amazing. I felt blessed that there was continuing life right there in my front yard.

Photo 2 - This is a favorite photo because of the memories tied to it. My boys and I one spring purchased some seeds to plant together in pots in our backyard. These flowers came from my younger sons choice of some wildflower seeds we planted together. I honestly didn't know what would come up from those seeds, but when I see this I remember and it makes me smile. The birds and the bees loved them, as did some other insects.

Photo 3 - This photo of a baby bird was taken by my driveway. He looks so serious, but its serious business I guess leaving a nest and learning to fly. I took this photo and left him alone and watched from a window. His mother (I am imagining) came back to help keep an eye on him it seemed as he learned to fly. He would hop around, then hide, then keep trying. Wonderful!

Photo 4 - The Missouri River on a windy, sunny day. I just love this photo because it was such a beautiful day and the sky and clouds and everything seemed just right. You can't tell from this vantage point what a massive river it is.

Photo 5 & 6 - Two different photos of different areas, during the Spring when the Irises seemed to be in full bloom. I love the bold color combination in 5, and the tree as a backdrop in 6. Irises can be such stunning flowers. Nature produces some of the most amazing things.

Photo 7 - Ducks can bring such joy, and its fun to feed them too. That is one of the things we used to do more when the kids were little, feed ducks little pieces of bread. My dad did that with me too when I was little, so I guess its a tradition! Ducks are a wonderful gift of nature to us.

Photo 8 - I love this path in a garden that leads to where these very tall trees were. The buds on these particular trees weren't even fully open, which is neat because you can see the design of the tree in its branches better. Lovely gifts to us, trees are!

Photo 9 - Lovely orange oriental poppies. That color exudes energy and happiness almost, at least it does to me. I love poppies of all kinds, from California to the many oriental poppies. What a gift!

**I will always be thankful for these gifts, they bring such joy to so many.

LadyLyell, Nature does so much for me, especially during hard times. You mention how the world is so full of turmoil, and that is true. Nature helps me to get back a bit of perspective and relaxation and refreshment. I think its good for the soul too. :) Thank you!

The Poppies are a dynamic shot! You captured the orange brilliantly and the positioning of those peddles is perfect. Lovely gallery from nature!
