Open Letter to Scott Borchetta - Big Machine Label Group
In Search of a Job:
I am hereby requesting a position in the country music industry via an open letter. I feel a need to reach out to one of my favorite record label owners in hopes that he will take the time to hear me out.
When one feels a burning desire for something that they believe in they should go above and beyond to achieve that goal. Fear should not be an option. Courage should override all emotions.
When one believes in themselves, others will believe in them. When one is confident in themselves, their confidence will shine through.
Failure only happens when one fails to give it their best shot.
Open Letter to Scott:
First off, I do not have dreams of becoming a country music artist. Trust me, no one wants to hear me sing. But, I do have visions of promoting country music artists.
I chose you as my mentor on my next adventure because I respect your drive and determination.
You started from scratch and created a record label which contains some of the most influential musical acts in Nashville.
Music Has Value
In 2005, you also had a dream and you went forth, hence, Big Machine Record Label. Your record company now consists of five labels. That alone is very impressive.
When I was in Nashville, your merchandise store was my second most visited place (just after Honky Tonk Central.) You and your wife nailed the motto, "Music Has Value." The value that music contains is underrated, there is much more that could be done to introduce music to the youth of today, heck even the elders too. The organization is for a worthy cause.
About me...I was born and bred on Long Island and have lived in Orlando for 32 years. I am a yankee with an attitude, but not the southern twang. I am 53 years old. I have two daughters and two granddaughters who are fans of Taylor Swift, so listening to Big Machine Radio on iHeart Music is the norm among for my girls.
I now consider this time in my life as my transition to shine. Country music is the love of my life. Country music is my passion. From morning to evening, I am listening, absorbing, feeling and appreciating the sounds of yesterday and today. From Hank Williams, Jr to Brantley Gilbert, the music transports me into a euphoric state.
25 years ago, country music entered my life. Thanks to Tim McGraw. Between Tim and Taylor, I am practically already part of the BML family. I feel it's now my time to give back to an industry that has given me so much. I am ready for my next challenge, I ain't getting no younger.
My friends and family are familiar with my passion for country music and Nashville. I could talk about the legends and the present day artists for hours upon hours. Country music is a genre that many artists of today have mimicked and are now crossing over to be a part of. Country music is huge! I would love to be a part of making it enormous! I just need that one person to believe in me.
I am a writer. Blogs, articles, self-published books are my forte. I do have a tendency to rant, but I write from the heart and the heart never lies. I have been told that I am persistent, pushy, dedicated, driven, motivated, feisty, witty, memorable and at times annoying. Hey, I am just being honest since this is basically my resume.
What could I do for Big Machine Label Group? Communications liaison is just one of my many talents. I am a people person, my communication skills have no age barrier. I am a motivator by nature. I have motivated many people over the years for various reasons. I am fluent with social media and enjoy meeting fellow country music fans from around the globe. I am also an avid blogger who has successfully introduced country music to the non-believers. Yeehaw!
I desire to help promote, which I also refer to as pimping, but in a legal manner. I have pimped out many artists, friends and family members. Pimping is beneficial to a business. No fedora required.
I would like to help find the next best country act, I would like to help make someone's dream come true. But, I am extremely finicky, yet very diligent in a kind manner.
I would also like to go back a bit to recapture where country music originated. Country music has changed so much over the years and while change is very good and most people learn to adapt, some opt out.
I would like to bring back some of the songs from way back when, with country acts from today. Each day I listen to country artists on YouTube and Instagram, some have so much potential, yet some don't, but they have a dream which is admirable. The right song needs a great hook and lines that capture your emotions or else it's a sinker.
Would I relocate? Heck yeah!
Back in the day I emailed my resume to a merchandising company. The next day I was hired because they were so impressed that I took the step that others never did. I hope I impress you just as much with my open letter to request a position within your world. That's how memories are made by taking the step that others wouldn't consider.
Thank you for your time,
Linda Bilyeu
