Defenition of Parasite

Some viewers might wonder, what is the relationship between the title and the film? the director deliberately provides a description of the question, at the end of the film, through a few seconds of the scene. Yes, Parasite is a parasite that usually only takes advantage of the host it occupies.

Watching this film also makes you aware that the horrible monsters in this world are human. Nevertheless, the message of Parasite is very "gripping" and beautifully crafted, such as Memories of Murder (2003). No wonder the film Parasite can get a five-minute standing ovation at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival.

Get Good Response

This film not only became one of the mainstay of Korean Box Office, but also became a film that scored 98% on Rotten Tomatoes and 8.6 / 10 on IMDb.

Brilliant and Maximum Acting

Strict character selection is the strength of the Parasite film. Bong Joon-ho (as a director) deliberately did not recruit many actors, so the audience would focus and be aware of what each character said. In total, there are 13 characters, including supporting actors.

All of them have behaviors and dialogues that not only you meet around, but also what you have experienced. For example, editing documents with photo editing applications, pretending to be good, and the brutal reality of humans.

Choi Woo-sik (Ki-woo / Kevin) and Park So-dam (Ki-jung / Jessica) managed to play partner-in-crime-able sisters. Not to lose, Song Kang-ho (Ki-taek) and Jang Hye-jin (Chung-sook) as parents whose dialogue is like a struggle speech.

Supported by Lee Sun-kyun (Mr. Park) and Jo Yeo-jeong (Mr. Park's wife) as innocent rich couples. they have two children, which has an important role as a tension relieving. And of course, there is Park Seo-joon who certainly makes the female audience happy because of the good looks he has.

Then, there are Lee Jeong-eun (Moon-kwang) and Park Myeong-hoon (Geun-se) appearing as characters that give rise to the audience's imagination due to lack of dialogue, the audience can only imagine by interpreting the look on their faces. Both of them also managed to give an atmosphere of horror, even though through expression.

Comedy Without Clowns, Tragedy Without Criminals

Parasite. He is a kind of tiny animal that can reduce the productivity of the animals he is living in. Not only applies to animals. Not infrequently other living creatures are ridden by parasites. Humans are an example.

Don't believe? Just look around you. Director Bong Joon-Ho concocted all of this in the form of a visualization in cinema. Titled Parasite or in Korean Gisaengchung, this film will feel taboo for those whose lives might be full of pretense. Pretending not to know or trying to cover it up with worship, trying to rid himself of all negative behaviors.

Bong Joon-Ho did manage to dismiss the sense of pretense through the character of the family living below the poverty line.

One day, like being hit by a windfall, Ki Woo was offered the job of being an English tutor from his old friend, for the daughter of the Park family (Lee Sun Kyun) who was of a different class with them, a very wealthy family.

Feeling alive and the burden of poverty that always goes through, without thinking, Ki Woo immediately accepted the offer, even he also easily recommended that all members of his family work for the Park family.

Happy ending? The Ki Take family can work and meet their needs. Meanwhile, the Park family can provide the best for their children. Stop! Stop there. Life isn't that easy. Instead, a series of tense events were present in the Park Family's house.

Ready to see how the Ki Taek family survives the cruelty of poverty? and what will happen at the Park's rich family residence? Find the answers on Parasite Films that aired in the cinema.

So Brilliant

I don't know anymore, how to describe this film. It doesn't taste enough with one brilliant word. Maybe repeatedly, that's not enough. Bong Joon-Ho? His name may not be as famous as Hollywood directors.

However, once making a film, Bong Joon-Ho's name will make the audience shudder. Not because of the fear presented by the film. but because of auto-criticism. Snowpiercer and Okja films for example. These two films are Science Fiction and Thriller genre. But, the criticism? It's really good!

The plot of the story makes us aware of the real person. If both are wrapped in a thriller groove, then Parasite is wrapped in satirical comedy. In fact, you could say smart comedy. Not just differences in social caste that often occur. Also, contain a drama, about the poor A can be loved by the rich B.

This film illustrates how Ki Taek was putting up all means to get out of economic problems. Meanwhile, the Park family is a naive figure. Do you feel familiar with Ki Taek's family attitude? Or are you just pretending like a Park family? Just look around you.

Everything is reinforced by a contrasting visual appearance since the beginning of the film. The contrast between the poor and the rich. Complete with all the properties he prepared. Everything is made to present the mood changes of the audience which in logic will be very easy to play following the Parasite story line.

Tossed on which side to choose. In fact, when the audience concludes who is the protagonist and antagonist, everything is interrupted by small story ideas inserted in this film. Various twist tucked in, making the audience increasingly hesitant and continue to hesitate. Wonder who am I? Human? Or the little monster that is now big and infiltrated into a human? Who?.

Palme D'Or Winner at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival was a testament to the quality of this film. Almost perfect. I gave 9/10 for this Parasite Film.
