it was shocking when Michael Jackson died...it's been a while and people are still mourning him. i was shocked to hear about Patrick Swayze too because i thought he was beating his cancer :(

Michael Jackson put a lot of trust in a doctor who was extremely negligent, and i suspect Patrick Swayze pushed himself too hard, but he was like that - very dedicated. he was recovering from bad knees when he filmed 'Dirty Dancing', and he was terrified to make that one stunning jump. the director told him he could use a stunt double but he said no, he would make the jump, and he did, and it was one of those wow moments in the film.

      very nice hub Tammy!

Unfortunately, there are some deadly diseases that can take down the healthiest or as the writer of this article said "athletic" of people. I have been a fan and follower of both MJ and PS for a long time. But again, unfortunately, as talented and charismatic as they were they had their problems. MJ turned to prescription pain killers at first for pain from a severe burn, but seems to have a history of off and on usage, but recently continual use of anti-anxiety pills, classified in the coroners report as benzodiazpines, that he would use for insomnia. What a lot of people don't realize is that the more you medicate yourself to sleep, the less your body becomes able to go to sleep naturally.

Patrick Swayze, turned to excessive alcohol abuse after his father died and continued after his sister Vicky committed suicide. Not to mention the fact that he was almost if not up to 2-3 packs of cigarettes a day. No human body can withstand abuses like alcohol, cigarettes and prescription pain killers mixed with the hospital only anesthetic Propofol and not take the risk of harming themsleves at the least and at the most killing themselves eventually by over dose or cancer/disease of some kind.

So, yes MJ was a shock because we were not aware he had any problems. As public as people wanted him to be with every aspect of his life, he was able to hide this effectively. The fact that through his money and influence he was able to get that many physicians to provide him with Propofol is shocking, even to the M.D.'s in the world. That's strictly an operating room, fully monitored potentially lethal anesthetic. The fact that he was able to get it is a true shame. But like so many have written, who would say "no" to Muchael Jackson, I guess not enough said "no". So whereas Michael Jackson death was more shocking than Patrick Swayze'z again because he kept his addiction/ insomnia/ auto immune diseases secret hidden so well.

Patrick Swayze's death much to the dismay of so many was expected because stage IV pancreatic cancer is about as deadly as a cancer can be! It has nothing to do with being athletic or a dancer or anything else. If exercising and active to any degree would stave off these diseases we would probably have a lot less obesity in this country because people who cared would take as much control over their health as possible. YES exercise, dance and the like provide obvious benefit to a person's health for example raising their HDL or "good cholesterol, making them feel and sleep more soundly and the list goes on, BUT it cannot offset, really severe smoking and drinking and drug abuse on a human body coupled with a very advance form of one of the most prolific cancers that exists today. I wish it weren't the case and I wish MJ and PS were still dancing and singing their ways into our hearts but they were only human and unfortunately they gambled a little too hard and a little too long with the very delicate balance we all have to deal with called our HEALTH!
