Playlist For an Old Soldier | Gregorian Chants

Updated on August 29, 2010

Most folks I would suppose are familiar with the more common Gregorian Chants like Kyrie Ellison, and Ave Maria, etc. But did you know some of the Monks are stepping up to the modern world and remixing some interesting songs into “New Wave Gregorian”? That’s my title for it and I think its worth sharing so here ya go..

Simon and Garfunkel’s 60’s hit somehow didn’t surprise me to be adapted in this style. The video is to me at least, fitting and I think well done.

Boulevard of Broken Dreams

This one was a big surprise to me but the Medieval Video gives it an interesting appeal. Soldier songs are timeless and whether or not it’s the Crusades of Operation Enduring Freedom soldiers are drawn to this song, especially volunteers.

But when you add the love of an English Maiden fair, as did I, She was Zena Fair Maiden of Norwich Towne,(FMONT) I would address my letters to her with those initials behind her name, and sign them Sir John SOA (Sergeant of the Americas)

My Immortal

It's about love, pain, and loss, Monks and Soldiers are kindred spirits in this regard. Ever Loyal...

Ponk Floyd - Who'd a thunk it?

This one is really good!

Go in Peace my Friends…

The Gregorian Chants take an esoteric taste, but I love the Benedictinos. It makes me feel close to God.
