Possible Actress for a New Wonder Woman

Because I can't help myself, I keep thinking who would be the appropriate actress to play Wonder Woman (should the role ever come to fruition). I've heard nothing about anyone being seriously considered for this role.

After seeing some dozens of stills and video of various possibilities, my current favorite is Jamie Alexander, whose most notably role was that of Sif in the "Thor" movie. She has a number of factors working in her favor. Some of these include:

  • She is beautiful, which we'd simply expect from Wonder Woman
  • She has a toughness that we'd also expect
  • She is capable letting a sly look cross her visage, and I think this is a hallmark of any warrior.
  • She has an athletic body. (One of the scenes cut from the final film featured Sif nude (maybe some of you saw it on YouTube). You only get glimpses, but what you see is very nice.
  • She has "onscreen" presence and has proven her chops as a sword-wielding, female warrior.

The problem here is that she is a Marvel-contracted character. Is she under license not to play any other super-heroine characters? Probably.

Anyway, today I'd choose her to take the role -- if it existed. Whether a WW movie or a JLA film are being seriously considered by DC is really an open question.

If you think you've found a better pick, let me know. Anyway when Thor II plays in theaters, keep an eye open for her, and imagine Jamie with different hair and costuming.
